Welcome back to Ryburn!

We hope you've had a brilliant summer and are ready for a great new term.

Start of term date:
Wednesday 2 September 2026 – Year 7, Year 11 and Year 12
Thursday 3 September 2026 – Year 8, Year 9, Year 10 and Year 13

A big hello to our new Year 7 students joining us for the first time – we can't wait to have you with us. And welcome to our new Year 12s!

Before term starts, it's worth checking uniforms are sorted and everyone's feeling ready for the year ahead.

On the day, school is open from 8am, with breakfast in the canteen and the Library open as usual. Lessons start at 8.30am, so students should be in their form rooms by then. Year 12 have a Transition Day on Wednesday, kicking off at 9.30am.

Being there from day one really matters – it helps students settle back into their routines, catch up with friends, and get the most out of the year ahead. If anything might affect your child's return to school, please let us know via our attendance support form: https://forms.cloud.microsoft/e/vJ52tH9naU

For some helpful tips on preparing for the new term, the Department for Education's Back-to-School Reset Guide is well worth a look:https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/6a856b28c9205b515d421e7d/The_back-to-school_reset_guide.pdf

We can't wait to welcome you all back soon.

Year 11 students celebrate another year of fantastic results 🎉

We are incredibly proud of our Year 11 students, who have once again achieved a fantastic set of results and shown what can be accomplished through hard work, determination and ambition.

This year, our students have achieved strong results across the curriculum, with excellent outcomes in English and maths and many students securing the very highest grades. Behind every result is an individual story of effort, resilience and progress, and today is about celebrating every one of those successes.

At Ryburn, we are proud to be a school where every young person is encouraged to find what they are good at and achieve their very best – whether that is in English and maths, the sciences, humanities, languages, the arts, sport or technical subjects.

A huge congratulations to all of our Year 11 students. We are enormously proud of you. Thank you, too, to our wonderful staff and families for the support, encouragement and belief they have given our young people throughout their time at Ryburn.

We wish every student the very best as they take their next step – whether they are continuing with us into Ryburn Sixth, beginning college, an apprenticeship or another exciting pathway. Well done, Class of 2026!

Special thanks to Ryburn Alumni, Charlotte Culf, for capturing the day 📸

Last week we welcomed parents and carers into school to join their children for a special Together Learning Trust lunch, alongside our Heads of Year, Mr Verdeyen and Mrs Watkins. Every student there had earned their place by collecting the most Recognition points in their year group, and that is no small thing.

Recognition points are awarded by teachers for all the things that add up to being a brilliant student. Putting in effort in lessons, having a go at something tricky, being helpful, making the right choice when it would be easier not to. We give thousands out every year, and these students have gathered the very most, by showing up and doing the right thing, day in and day out.

You'll know the little ping of an email that lands when your child earns a point, and it's easy for those to become background noise in a busy term. But every one marks a moment where a member of staff stopped and thought, "that was great, well done". Seen all together, they tell a really lovely story about who your children are.

We're so proud of every one of them, and it was wonderful to celebrate with their families.

Let's kick off the holidays with a summery tune, courtesy of Ryburn's amazing Senior Band. Listen to their brilliant rendition of 'Hotel California' feating Millie on vocals & keys, Edward on guitar and Max on drums. We think its sure to get you in the mood for the summer.
