Year 13 A Level Geography Students spent a day at the The Geography Fieldwork Academy, Southwold, exploring the Suffolk coastal environment.

This field trip completes one of four required fieldwork days for these A Level students as part of their course, learning how to collect primary coastal data through independent investigation.

Hi everyone,

For those of you in the South-East area looking for fieldwork support this year, we’d love to welcome you and your students to our centre in Southwold, Suffolk.

We deliver GCSE, iGCSE, IB and NEA specific courses. Ranging from day trips to residentials and including both human and physical investigations. All of our courses are designed and delivered by actual geography teachers and we try to keep our prices as affordable as possible.

This will be our 8th year of operating, we’ve now worked with over 250 schools and colleges, with the majority of groups rebooking with us year after year.

However, we have recently moved to a larger centre in Southwold’s Old Hospital and have increased our capacity, as such, we do have availability for new bookings this winter from January - April 2025 and limited availability before and after then too.

Our vibrant, modern flexible space within the Old Hospital in the heart of Southwold is available to be hired throughout this summer. Year 12 Geography teachers!!

Due to a postponement we have availability for a 3 day NEA course in the peak of the summer term between the 26th and 28th June 2024. The beach will be at it's best, the town will be getting busy and this will be the ideal time for summer fieldwork.

Hi everyone, we’ve just added the following promo post into various different geography teacher forums, so thought we might as well share it here too:

We’re pleased to announce that due to the support of many of you over our first 7 years we have recently grown and moved into a bigger fieldwork home in the coastal town of Southwold in Suffolk.

We still have use of the town’s theatre for larger GCSE groups, but now also have a permanent home in the towns old hospital where we have a large, modern teaching space (ideal for groups of 15-40) and a smaller conference room for groups of less than 15 students.

We’ve also expanded our tutor team this year and continue to lead all our courses with fully qualified, experienced and enthusiastic geography teachers!

We can offer quality and affordable evening catering for residential groups in the locally sourced Canteen restaurant (also in the Old Hospital) and have increased our range of local accommodation partners, ranging from seafront hotels, independent hostels and glamping sites.

We do get booked up several months in advance but do have some remaining availability for 2024, especially in the Autumn terms onwards. We would love to welcome you and your students to the Suffolk coast so please do get in touch.

Great to see docking on this morning. This was how many of Southwold’s early tourists a century again would have arrived and left the town. It just so happened, that as I was explaining this on the beach as part of our coastal tourism field course today, she sounded her horn and set off for London! 👌

There’s been a fair bit of groyne measuring going on this week! has been full of East Anglian fieldworkers with students from Sewell Park in Norwich, Ormiston Academy in Ipswich and sixth formers from Attleborough too. We also caught up with the geographers from Norwich School and Bungay.
