New Two-Year Online Certificate in Mission Practice Course is available through the Niagara School for Missional Leadership which is open to any person interested in being part of an Anglican understanding to contextual mission and pioneering.
The Niagara School for Missional Leadership is thrilled to announce the launch of our new two-year certificate course in Mission Practice. This unique hands-on training course is designed for both lay and ordained people who feel called to be involved and lead mission initiatives, and for those who want to develop specific skills to be recognised missioners.
The Certificate in Mission Practice a praxis-oriented formation journey is designed to equip both lay and ordained individuals with the theological, pastoral, and practical tools needed to lead contextual mission initiatives within Anglican and ecumenical settings. Rooted in deep theological reflection and real-world application, this course integrates monthly online learning with in-person mentoring to cultivate the competencies required for pioneering new ecclesial communities, leading fresh expressions of church, and accompanying others in mission.
Participants engage with a broad spectrum of missional contexts—particularly among the de-churched, unchurched, and spiritual-but-not-religious—while developing a mission theology grounded in Anglican tradition and shaped by contemporary realities.

2. Starting and Sustaining a Missional New Monastic Community | Starts 15th Sept 2025
This is a four session series where Mark Berry and I facilitate this learning event. My good friend Mark Berry, has a lot of experience being involved in mission and starting up a new monastic community in the UK. I have experience now of setting up 3 missional monastic communities and helping setting up another currently. Together we bring broad perspectives to explore the real challenge of setting up and sustaining a new monastic community.

Written this post from the heart looking at the issue of contemplation and missional new monastic communities. It’s free and accessible on substack. Please do consider joining me on substack as there are options for free and paid subscriptions. I am committed to writing there to share wisdom and reflections on life. The post also includes some training coming up in the autumn.

Thanks for all the encouraging responses to me substack reflections. It is good to know these are helping people. For me these are prayerful utterances where I mam speaking to myself as much as to others!
The latest I seek to go further than just the contemplative when considering post-secular spirituality, reflecting on my experiences and the potential for the catholic Anglican traditions to open up Christian spirituality to the many spiritual seekers.
So if you are interested, check out the latest below. Reminder you don't need to sign up to read the post (although it is free and you are also welcome to sign up).
