We are delighted to share with you all that following our recent inspection, we have been awarded GOOD by Ofsted under the new September 2019 framework. Here are a few of the many wonderful quotes from our report:

In addition to what is in the report, we were given verbal feedback on the day which was also very positive. We are incredibly proud of the education and care we offer at Seashells and to achieve this grading is a huge achievement for the nursery.

What a lovely and to be honest quite moving reception I received from the babies at Seashells Day Nursery yesterday. I haven't been for a 3 weeks so was feeling a little bit anxious as I arrived but no sooner had I got out of the car when I was spotted by one of the babies who was looking out of the window. He started smiling, pointing at me and shouting at the others and before I knew it I had a welcoming committee waiting for me as I walked through the door. By the time I'd put my bag and coat in the office the little ones had sat themselves down in a semi circle without any prompting from the staff ready to start my session. I received an equally warm reception in the toddler and pre-school rooms. It was a really heartwarming welcome back. Thank you as always to the lovely children and staff at Seashells for always making me feel so welcome. Helen ###

We were asked by the lovely people at Seashells Day Nursery to make these personalised chocolate scrolls for each of their little ones who were graduating from their nursery up to school last week!!

We thought the idea was lovely and hope the Seashells Class of 2018 had a lovely graduation ceremony!!

Today was our last session at Seashells Day Nursery before the summer holidays. Kerry and I have enjoyed doing Little Stars sessions with the pre-school children and a combination of story massage, songs and sensory play in the toddler and baby room. After only 6 weeks of working in the toddler room Kerry and I were moved almost to tears when the children not only joined in the story massage moves but knew which move was coming next. The sense of calm in the room was tangible. It did make us laugh when we tried to leave without doing our bubbles activity. The children soon made it known to us that we couldn't leave until we did it. Thank you to both the children and staff for making us so welcome. Kerry and I look forward to seeing you in September. ###

Thank you to everyone who attended the nursery graduation. It has been a pleasure watching the children grow,everyday they make us smile. I'm impressed with each child's progress at the time they have been at Seashells, a big thank you to all the staff who are dedicated and work hard. We wish the children luck, they are now ready to start a new journey which they are equipped for.

The real story behind the life of a nursery worker...

As well as teaching children to learn through play, we have to recognise issues in child development, liaise with speech & language, psychologists and psychiatrists, teachers, therapists, undertake 2 year progress checks, be first aid trained, identify special or additional needs, cater for dietary and health requirements, manage complex family issues, look for signs of extremism and terrorism, safeguarding and child protections issues, drugs, alcohol & mental health issues, domestic violence, health and safety requirements, undertaking risk assessments, substances hazardous to health, infection control, food hygiene. To adhere to Ofsted, the Local Authority, Environmental Health and the Health Protection agency. We plan, observe and assess children based on their characteristics of effective learning, we see schemas in their play and plan appropriate next steps to ensure they are ready for their next stage of learning. We care for these children as if they are our own, we hug, we reassure, we praise, we celebrate their achievements. We ensure children learn to share, take turns, be kind, have excellent manners, socialise with their peers. We go the extra mile for parents wherever we can, we are there for them when they are experiencing difficulties, struggling to cope, when they feel there is no one there to help or listen.
