📚 NEW SOUTHPORT CREATIVE WRITING COMPETITION FOR KS2 & KS3 ✍️
Could a young writer you know see their name and story in a real, professionally printed book?
Southport & Area Schools Worker Trust is excited to launch Something Miraculous? — a creative writing competition inviting children and young people to write an original story of no more than 500 words in which something miraculous happens.
Their miracle could be enormous or almost unnoticed; mysterious, funny, dramatic, faith-inspired, fantastical or surprisingly ordinary. It might bring hope, transform a life, answer a deep longing or suggest that life contains more than we can explain.
Every young writer decides what “miraculous” means in their story.
🌟 100 selected stories will be professionally published in:
Something Miraculous? — Stories of Wonder by Southport’s Young Writers
One overall winner will be announced at the book launch at Christ Church Southport during Books Alive on Friday 30 October. Following the free Miracles Alive interactive storytelling sessions, the winning story will be read aloud to a live audience!
WHO CAN ENTER?
Young writers in KS2 or KS3 who live, attend school or have another clear connection with the Southport area.
DEADLINE
11.59pm on Friday 9 October 2026.
HOW TO ENTER
A parent or carer submits the story directly through our website, where you’ll also find the full rules and writing guidance:

Schools, churches, teachers, youth leaders, parents, grandparents and everyone who knows a young storyteller: please share this post, tag your school or church, or send it directly to a family.
Schools and churches don’t need to organise or administer entries — simply help young writers discover the opportunity.
One share could provide the encouragement that puts a child’s name in a real book.
