So incredibly proud of the experience we were able to offer to some of our women. The feelings we all experienced on that retreat were something you cannot put into words, but when we talk about it afterwards, words such as safe, accepted, supported, loved, cared for and understood keep coming up.
And when you think about what many of us have lived through, those feelings can feel completely alien. To feel safe enough to just be yourself, accepted without judgement, supported by women who understand, and genuinely cared about… I think that's a huge part of why the retreat was so powerful.
It wasn't just about the activities we did or the things we learned. It was about how it felt to be there.
And then, 6–8 weeks later, reading their feedback and seeing the changes they are still making… that's the bit that makes me incredibly proud of Phoenix.

Guess what… we can finally share our news!!
💜 WE'RE A BBC MAKE A DIFFERENCE AWARDS 2026 FINALIST! 💜

We are incredibly proud to share that Phoenix Healing CIC has been named a finalist in the BBC Radio Merseyside Make a Difference Awards 2026 in the Community Group category!

To be recognised for the work we do supporting women recovering from domestic abuse means more than any words can say.

When I started Phoenix, I never imagined we'd one day receive recognition like this.

Phoenix was built from lived experience and a simple belief that women recovering from domestic abuse deserve more than just crisis support. They deserve somewhere they can continue to heal, rebuild their confidence and realise they are never alone.

Phoenix Healing CIC was created because, from our own experience, we know that healing doesn't end when someone escapes an abusive relationship. Recovery takes time, support, understanding and a community that believes in you. Every day we have the privilege of walking alongside incredible women as they rebuild their confidence, independence and hope for the future.

Every Freedom Programme or Freedom Forever session, every confidence workshop, every retreat, every phone call, every bingo game, every cup of tea, every hug and every woman who has found the strength to believe in herself again has brought us to this moment.
This recognition belongs to every woman who has trusted us with her journey, every volunteer, every director, every supporter, every funder and everyone who has championed our work along the way. You have all helped make Phoenix what it is today!

A huge thank you to BBC Radio Merseyside for recognising community organisations making a difference across our region. We are honoured to be among so many inspiring finalists.
You can hear our story on BBC Radio Merseyside on Wednesday 19th August at 7:20am, and we hope you'll tune in!

From the bottom of our hearts... thank you for believing in our mission. Here's to continuing to help women rise from surviving to truly thriving.

Last night, one of our women said:

“I literally feel like I’m coming home to myself.”

I don’t think she’ll ever know how much those words meant.

This is why we do what we do. 💜

Thought of the day... What does “home” mean to you?

For many of us, home is a place of comfort, belonging and safety.
For women who have experienced domestic abuse, home can become the place where they felt most frightened, isolated and controlled. Even after escaping, it can take a long time to feel safe again, not just in a house, but within themselves.
At Phoenix Healing CIC, we believe recovery is about more than surviving. It’s about helping women rediscover who they are, rebuild confidence, create supportive friendships, and find a sense of belonging again.

Sometimes, “coming home” means finding your voice.
Sometimes it means trusting yourself.
Sometimes it means sitting alongside women who simply understand.

Every woman deserves a place where she feels safe, valued and accepted. We’re proud to create spaces where healing can begin and hope can grow.

What does the word ‘home’ mean to you?

The best way to understand the work we do is to hear from the brave survivors who have put their trust in us and worked hard through our service to regain their independence and recover from domestic abuse. Here is another fantastic testimony from one of our amazing service users ☺️🙌🏻

When we are asked what we do.. the only way to explain is to let our service users speak for themselves ☺️🥰

Every woman deserves the chance to rise.

Recovery isn’t linear, and it certainly isn’t a tick-box exercise.

Real healing takes time, the right support and people who continue to believe in you long after you’ve escaped the abuse.

That’s exactly why Phoenix Healing CIC exists! 🥰

Sponsor a Survivor. Change a Life.
When a woman leaves an abusive relationship, the journey isn’t over.
Many survivors are left trying to rebuild their confidence, self-worth and identity after years of being told they aren’t good enough.
This year, thanks to funding from the Police and Crime Commissioner for Merseyside, we delivered our first Phoenix Rising Retreat.
We watched women laugh again, believe in themselves again, and reconnect with parts of themselves they thought they had lost forever.

The feedback was overwhelming and confirmed something we have long believed – recovery doesn’t end when the abuse ends.
We are now hoping to run our next retreat in September 2026 and are looking for businesses, organisations and kind-hearted individuals who would like to help make it happen.
£300 sponsors one survivor’s place£600 sponsors two survivor places£3,000 funds the entire retreat
If you, your employer, or a business you know would be interested in supporting women rebuilding their lives after abuse, we would love to hear from you.

Together, we can help more women move from surviving to thriving. 💜

✨ Phoenix Healing CIC is 5 years old today ✨

Five years ago, I took a leap of faith and started Phoenix Healing CIC.

At the time, I had no idea whether it would work, whether anyone would believe in it, or whether I was capable of building something that could truly make a difference. What I did know was that women affected by domestic abuse deserved compassionate, understanding support that focused on healing, not just surviving.

The journey hasn’t always been easy. There have been challenges, setbacks, sleepless nights, tears, and moments where I questioned myself. But there has also been hope, courage, growth, and the privilege of watching women rediscover parts of themselves they thought they had lost forever.

Today, I feel incredibly proud. Not of myself, but of every woman who has trusted Phoenix Healing with her story and allowed us to be part of her recovery journey.

To every woman who has attended a course, reached out for support, volunteered, donated, funded us, or cheered us on from the sidelines – thank you. You are part of this story too. ❤️

If there is one thing I have learned over the last five years, it’s this:

🌟 Believe in yourself.
🌟 Follow your passion.
🌟 Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t do something.

Because sometimes the things that seem impossible become the things you are most proud of.

Here’s to the next chapter of Phoenix Healing CIC. 🐦🔥❤️
