Having a little reflection on my own habits after a busy August.

When we talk to our friends, family and people we meet, we see different ways of living.

I've started trying to be more observant when someone tells me about themselves. If something in conversation gets flagged in my brain when I hear it then surely I value it somewhat. We all value different things after all, so not all habits I hear resonate with me.

What I've changed this month:

I used to loosely follow my finances but the more I transition to self employed the more in control/confident I feel knowing where my money is at. I've always used spreadsheets to track my money, I expanded the functionality of the sheets tenfold so I can feel like an accountant. Easy input, easy output, lots of detail. I'm spending like 30 mins weekly on this.

Mindful food shopping, since budgeting better and having 3 different food spending categories (Basic, Easy, Luxury) I realised that my diet was majority unprepped easy foods, which is more expensive, less nutritious, and less calorific than if I spent the time to prep wholefoods. I justified this to myself because I eat 4000kcal and it's alot of food to prep and cry cry cry, but it's only an extra 2/3 hours per week. A fair trade really.

I feel like I've been lazy with my food recently and the numbers don't lie, so I've began cutting out frequently consuming sugar. When I do this I look towards cold drinks, hot drinks, breakfast, cereals, snacks, and desserts. I fall into this habit a lot from when I was younger. I just mindfully begin reducing my intake of all these. I need to adjust my taste buds, so no sweetener too, I want to unlearn sweetness. Black coffee drinkers and dark chocolate eaters might relate. I feel like when you don't have that thought pattern ingrained to avoid sugar, you can just build a tolerance to sweetness and crave sweeter and sweeter treats, more and more frequently. Ending up feeling low energy all the time rather than feeling fueled from meals.

So just by finding around 3 hours a week I can make big improvements in my mood, health and save money? Nice.

Client Progress ๐Ÿ’ช

has absolutely smashed his cut!

He was sitting at 118kg
(18st 8lb / 260lbs)

Weve got him down to 101kg
(15st 12lb / 222lbs)

I can't thank him enough for being the absolute machine that he is. No questions asked. No excuses. Exactly the sort of client that gets results and it shows.

Behind the scenes we have been setting up this 4 week transformation, we've actually been working together for close to 12 weeks, weight hasn't dropped significantly as we've been focusing on increasing his metabolic rate and increasing lean body mass. As we dropped into a deficit his body was primed to produce better results, rather than restricting energy from the beginning we took the smart approach and made his body more efficient so when we did drop into a deficit, it worked.

And clearly... it worked well.

Proud of you mate x

I see often people not pushing themselves in the gym, going through the motions as if just showing up is going to get you results.

You NEED intensity, not matter how much volume you put in, you won't stimulate growth without pushing yourself (otherwise we would all have massive calves from walking all our lives).

Push yourself.
Do more.
Lift heavier.
Stop. Being. Weak.

Biiiig read ahead, sorry!

Probably best that I introduce myself, my name is Max and I'm currently studying sport and exercise science at edgehill. I have always been into exercising and fitness but in 2015 I really began to try and gain some size!!.. with no result ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ˜…. This was due to lack of knowledge both in training and nutrition.

What made it more difficult was in 2018 I became vegan, which has a massive stigma in the bodybuilding community (for good reason too). This had further limited my nutritional knowledge by throwing out all my omnivore knowledge and starting from scratch with a new plant-based lifestyle (turns out nutrition doesn't care about what you eat as the principles are still the same).

After some trustworthy ๐Ÿ™„ internet studying, I finally began to gain some size. I started university two years ago and now had access to scientific journals and professors who taught me how to critically analyse scientific literature. In my own time I researched hypertrophy, nutrition and anabolics extensively. I started to realise how miseducated the general gym-goer is (bc that was me!)

The amount of dangerous practices are being spread through word of mouth rather than scientifically backed research is astonishing and I understand that I am still learning myself (won't stop either) but my goal is to provide serious guidance for those passionate about their fitness goals.

This is me now (91 kg), I am not happy with how I look, nor am I comfortable with posting pictures of myself online (fully aware how contradictory it seems) however I need to show some proof that I've been able to apply my knowledge to myself and show the results that I've been able to achieve. Still gonna to get bigger though ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

I provide full online coaching for individuals who want to make some serious progress.
These all include:
- Weekly check ins
- Weekly macro manipulation
- Personalised diet plans
- Ability to harass me over whatsapp ๐Ÿ˜… (for advice ofc)
I offer NUTRITIONAL coaching where you sort the training, I sort the food. Based on your progress and how your body responds I can manipulate your food based on your current goals.

If you want better progress I suggest the FULL coaching which involves all of the above plus the 'advanced training plan' and access to my app where you can track your workouts and weight giving me access to more information to help you achieve your goals.

My PREMIUM coaching offers all of the above plus the 'advanced diet plan' and optional in-person weekly check-ins to monitor health markers such as RHR, BP and mental health.

My advanced plans include the same personalised diet plans and personalised training plans as the basic plans.

However! In addition to the level of detail I provide in the basic plans I go further in these plans providing a bigger pool of advice to follow, of course these are not for everyone as these plans can come across strict to an untrained individual.

I also offer macro calculations based on your goals, current training and expenditure if you already know how to train and want to choose your own food.

Basic plans include personalised diet plans, personalised training plans and macro calculations.

Want to keep training how you like but need a hand with choosing the correct fuel to achieve your goals? Consider one of my diet plans and we can discuss your current relationship with food and tailor a diet plan that works for you, because there is nothing worse than a diet you don't enjoy.

Know what to eat and what you like but need guidance on what training is best? Consider a training plan that includes exercises you already enjoy and is designed around your goals and how much you want to train. NOT all exercises work for everyone! for specific weights on your training plan consider the advanced programme.

I also offer macro calculations based on your goals, current training and expenditure if you already know how to train and want to choose your own food.

Not sure if online coaching is right for you? Read this!

Online coaching is an affordable alternative to personal training and can be used in line with personal training too. I provide guidance with your training and nutrition, the only thing I can't do is put the work in for you ๐Ÿ˜…

If you are experienced in the gym and need guidance on training or nutrition I am experienced in both fields and would love to work with you to help you achieve your fitness goals.

If you are new to the gym I highly recommend investing in a personal trainer so you can learn how to train safely and effectively, at the current time I am not taking on personal training clients. I am looking into including this in the future.
