In the lead-up to Comic Relief Day, we will once again selling red noses for £2.50 each. These silly noses are not just a fun accessory, but they also help to raise funds for important causes, so we would love for everyone to support us in this way.
On the 20th March, we will hold a non-uniform day, and we encourage everyone to wear something red!
It will be a brilliant way to show our support for Comic Relief, and we're sure to see lots of bright outfits.
If you are able to make a donation, we will be accepting money on the day, we suggest £1 and it should be no more than £2, or you can make a donation to Comic Relief by using this link below.

We’re so proud to celebrate this year’s Book Door winners! 📚 It was incredibly hard for the judges to decide, with so many creative and thoughtful entries across the school.
Congratulations to Year 3 Lobster Class for their brilliant focus on re-reading favourite books, using fun QR links to bring them to life. Year 3 Starfish wowed us with their colourful Mr Men door—every child contributed, and you can even spot Mrs Bolter! Year 5 also impressed with their vibrant display showcasing the wide range of books and authors they’re enjoying.
All the children worked so hard, and they are now buzzing to spend their prize money on new books for their micro-library with Mrs Bolter. Well done everyone! 👏📖

Last week we celebrated Book Week, including one of our favourite traditions – the Book Door Challenge! 📚🚪
This year’s theme was “Go all in: if you are into it, read into it.” The children put in a fantastic effort and the doors looked amazing. Nursery showcased their love of dinosaur stories, Reception celebrated cooking and baking with Little Red Riding Hood, Year 3 featured the classic Mr Men stories, and Year 5 highlighted a range of reading genres and book series they love to read.
We’ll be announcing three winning classes soon, each receiving £30 for their micro-library. Watch this space! 👀📚

Last week, Porters Grange celebrated Book Week, including World Book Day! 📚 The children loved coming to school in their pyjamas and bringing their favourite books to share.
Our annual family reading event was a wonderful success thanks to your amazing support. The school was busy and buzzing as families visited classrooms, explored our beautiful library, relaxed in the cosy comic zone and helped choose their child’s next read.
It was fantastic to see so many children excitedly reading with their grown-ups. We hope everyone is enjoying the new book they chose with their World Book Day token! 📖

📚✨ Family Reading Workshop Success! ✨📚
Thank you to all the families who joined our recent workshop! It was wonderful to see children and their grown-ups learning together.
We revisited Phase 2 phonics and explored Phases 3 and 4, sharing new sounds and tricky words. The children loved showing how they read in school!
We finished with Room on the Broom, and the hall was buzzing as everyone joined in with, “Whoosh! They were gone!” 🧙♀️🧹
A fantastic afternoon of learning together, thank you for coming! 💛

Reception Class enjoyed their very first visit to our school library, and what a special experience it was! The children explored the space with excitement and curiosity, learning how the library works and discovering a wide range of books to enjoy. They listened beautifully, showed great respect for the books, and were eager to share which stories caught their eye.
This first visit was a wonderful step in developing a love of reading for pleasure, helping the children see the library as a calm, welcoming place full of stories to explore. We’re so proud of how grown-up and enthusiastic they were—and we can’t wait for many more library visits to come 📚✨
Our Library is welcome to all our families every Wednesday after school. A free fun way to spend time with your children to browse and borrow reads you can take home! 🙂

At Porters Grange, we take pride in our weekly reading for pleasure time. Orca Class loved cosy reading time this week, snuggled up with blankets and soft toys from home, getting properly stuck into their current reads. . This simple, free activity encourages children to continue enjoying reading at home, and sharing stories together made it a calm, joyful moment. Let us know how you read at home? 📚✨
