Ethan and Florence, both in Year 5, recently represented Thorpe Bay Yacht Club at the RS Tera Eastern Championships in Burnham with Ethan securing 2nd place in the Sport Sail fleet! 🥈 ⛵

Our Year 2 pupils enjoyed a fantastic Great Fire of London trip last week. They were met by their Blue Badge guide, who brought history to life as they explored the streets and landmarks connected to Samuel Pepys and the outbreak of the Great Fire. Through engaging stories and activities, the children discovered what life was like in London in 1666. 🔥📜

After lunch at beautiful All Hallows’ Church, where Pepys famously watched the fire spreading from the tower, the children became history detectives! They explored artefacts, dressed up in period costumes, took on historical roles and even practised 1666-style writing using quill pens. ✒️

Congratulations to Rafe in Year 10, who has achieved a Merit in his Grade 6 Guitar exam. A fantastic accomplishment and a true reflection of the dedication and hard work he has put into his music. 🎸

Rafe enjoyed performing “Smells Like Teen Spirit” at our recent Top of the Pops concert, which showcased not only his musical ability but also his confidence and energy as a performer on stage.

Well done Rafe, we are incredibly proud of you! 👏

This week, our Year 9 students had the fantastic opportunity to explore the world of Shakespeare with a tour of the iconic Shakespeare’s Globe. 🎭

Students discovered more about the history of the theatre, the performances that took place there, and what life was like for audiences and actors in Shakespeare’s time. It was a brilliant opportunity to bring their learning to life and experience one of London’s most famous cultural landmarks. 📚

During the summer holidays, Lily in Year 5 and her little sister Ellie handmade a beautiful collection of jewellery, keyrings and good luck charms to sell in their pop up shop. They were thrilled to sell their entire collection, raising an amazing £87! 🎉

The girls decided to donate half to Gold Geese Charity, a charity supporting families with children who have cancer, and used the other half to buy materials for their next collection.

They visited Gold Geese to deliver their donation and were so keen to learn more about the difference the charity makes to families. 🥰 We couldn’t be prouder and they’ve already started planning their next pop up shop! 🛍️

We were delighted to welcome back recent alumni and former Head Boy Daniel to Thorpe Hall School this week. 👏

After completing his GCSEs at Thorpe Hall School, Daniel went on to Westcliff High School for Boys for Sixth Form, where he achieved the top grade in all four of his A levels. He is now embarking on an exciting new chapter, studying Medicine at Imperial College London! 🩺🎓

Daniel spoke to our current Year 11 students about his educational journey, sharing some fantastic advice and reminding them that setbacks can be opportunities to succeed in a different way.

He also encouraged students to step outside their comfort zones, try new clubs and activities, and make the most of every opportunity to build their experiences and become the best, most well-rounded version of themselves. Our students also had the opportunity to ask Daniel questions at the end of his talk, making for a really valuable and inspiring session.

A huge thank you to Daniel for taking the time to return to Thorpe Hall School and sharing his experiences with our students. We are incredibly proud and wish him every success as he begins his studies at Imperial. 🌟
