Remembering Mrs Silvana Gibbins
It is with great sadness that we remember Mrs Silvana Gibbins, a much loved former teacher at THS who taught Italian and French.
Mrs Gibbins touched the lives of many students through her dedication, kindness and passion for teaching. She will be fondly remembered by the countless students she inspired, as well as the colleagues she worked alongside.
Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with her family, friends and former colleagues.

There was a brilliant atmosphere at Thorpe Hall School today, as students and their families, alongside the Senior staff, collected and celebrated their GCSE results.
There were smiles, gasps and hugs all round, and weโre so proud of each and every student.
We are delighted once again to celebrate another outstanding set of results for our Year 11 cohort on GCSE results day today.
As has consistently been the case in recent years, Thorpe Hallโs students have once again achieved results above their predicted outcomes โ a testament to their hard work over their last few terms at school.
Our students achieved an overall average Value Added (VA) score of 0.79. This means that students on average scored over 3/4s of a grade per subject higher than expected, based on their CAT4 academic forecasts. The overall average grade per student across the cohort was grade 6.
These results show the true value of hard work and resilience, and a commitment to academic progress demonstrated by our students and teaching staff.
Headlines:
๐ 1 in 3 students had a VA of over +1.5 โ meaning they performed 1.5 grades above their CAT4 academic forecasts
๐ 84.7% of the cohort achieved grades 9 โ 5 in English
๐ 88.1 % of the cohort achieved 9 โ 4 in English and Maths

We wish all our Year 11s the absolute best for their next steps.
