🏢🏠 JOB OF THE WEEK - BUILDING CONTROL SURVEYOR 🏢🏠

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BkbgvF1Hqcg

In the role of a building control surveyor, you'll work closely with architects, designers, builders and engineers to make sure that building regulations are met. This includes when houses, offices and other buildings are designed and constructed and when they are altered, extended or converted.

You'll advise on a solution if a building looks like it won't meet the requirements of the building regulations and suggest ways the build can be made more cost effective. You'll make regular site inspections and on complex projects you may also be involved at the pre-application stage.

As a building control surveyor, you'll need to:

Examine plans, drawings, specifications and other documents submitted for approval to make sure they comply with building regulations - using practical guidance set out by the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government
inspect buildings against regulations for public health, fire safety, energy conservation and sustainability and building accessibility.

Work with other professionals, including architects, designers, builders and engineers.

Advise applicants on changes to ensure legal requirements are met
issue approval and advise on additional steps where this is conditional
carry out regular inspections of buildings and works, and inspect and test foundations and drainage.
