Hi, I'm Brian. I've been an English teacher for 27 years, working in a variety of Essex schools. My most recent role has been Lead Practitioner in English.

I have taught all three English A levels - Language, Literature and combined - for AQA, OCR and Edexcel. My experience includes five years teaching in a grammar school, so I am expert in getting the very best from the most able.

Equally, I have worked in comprehensive schools with specialist provision for dyslexia and ASD so I am equally confident supporting students with special educational needs.

Then there are the students in the middle. The ones who are doing OK, who don't cause any trouble. The ones who can easily get lost in a class of 30 students all competing for the teacher's attention. I've helped lots of these students move from just passing with a 4 to something that truly reflects their ability.

I have taught both AQA and Edexcel GCSEs, including English 2.0, as well as Functional Skills and Entry Level English, so whatever pathway is best for your child, I can help them to be successful. My experience examining for several boards at both GCSE and A level means I know how the mark schemes work and what helps students to shine.

I offer a range of group options online, as well as 1:1 tuition online and in person. To arrange a discussion of your child's needs, please message me.
