Our learners have been busy making a difference in the local community 💙

Recently, some of our SEND learners took part in a fantastic community project supporting the Southchurch Hall Gardens Scarecrow Festival.

Working together, they helped create one of the many unique scarecrows displayed throughout the gardens, contributing to an event that brought families, schools, local groups, and the wider community together.

Projects like these are about so much more than the finished result. They give learners the opportunity to develop creativity, teamwork, confidence, and community connections while taking pride in being part of something bigger.

We're incredibly proud of their hard work and the enthusiasm they brought to the project.

Well done to everyone involved 👏💙

With exam season coming to an end, there's no better time to start thinking about what comes next 💙

If you, or your young person, would benefit from a slower start, smaller class sizes, and a more supportive route into further education, our Pathways Programme could be the perfect fit.

With no formal entry requirements, learners can focus on building confidence, developing practical skills, and preparing for their future. We also offer Maths and English GCSEs alongside vocational courses where needed. If a learner has already achieved their Maths and English GCSEs, they'll focus solely on their chosen subject area.

With a wide range of courses, dedicated support, and a focus on helping every learner succeed, Pathways helps young people take their next steps in a way that works for them.

A closer look at our new branding 💙

When it came to creating the new Southend City Community College brand, we wanted something that felt truly connected to both our college and our community.

The bell tower felt like the perfect choice.

It has stood as part of this building long before the college existed and remains one of the most recognisable features of our campus today. For us, it represents our history, our place in the community, and the generations of learners who have passed through these doors.

Designed by our marketing team and agreed by our management team, the bell tower became a natural symbol for who we are - proud of our past, connected to our community, and excited for the future.

We hope you're loving the new branding as much as we are 💙

What a day 💙

Our launch event was everything we hoped it would be and more.

A huge thank you to all of our staff, learners, partners, and supporters who joined us to celebrate this exciting new chapter as Southend City Community College.

A special thank you also goes to the Deputy Mayor of Southend on Sea for doing the honours and officially cutting the ribbon - and yes, we absolutely loved the gold scissors ✂️✨

The day was filled with excitement, pride, and a real sense of community. Seeing so many people come together to celebrate made it truly special.

We'd also like to give a huge shoutout to Formara, who have been fantastic throughout this project. They were responsible for printing our new brochures, banners, and signage, and the quality of everything produced has been exceptional. Thank you for helping bring the new brand to life.

Now that the new branding is officially out in the world, we'd love to hear what you think. Are you loving the new look, graphics, and colours? Let us know in the comments below 👇

Welcome to Southend City Community College 💙

Today marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter as Southend Adult Community College officially becomes Southend City Community College.

As our college has grown, so have the opportunities we offer. While our previous name reflected our long-standing commitment to adult education, it no longer told the full story of who we are and who we serve.

Today, we support learners of all ages - from young people taking their first steps towards a career, to adults looking to upskill, retrain, gain qualifications, or simply learn something new. Our new name better reflects the diverse community we are proud to be part of.

This change is by no means about moving away from our adult learners. They remain at the heart of everything we do. Instead, it is about ensuring all of our learners feel represented and recognised as part of our college community.

Alongside our new name, we are also delighted to launch our brand new course guides. For the first time, we have created two dedicated brochures - one for learners aged 16-19 and one for learners aged 19+ - making it easier than ever to explore the opportunities available to you.

📖 Pop into the college to pick up your copy today, with digital versions coming soon.

📞 Looking ahead to next year? Contact our team on 01702 445700 or email [email protected] to discuss courses and secure your place.

Over the past few months, our team has worked incredibly hard behind the scenes on our new branding, course guides, signage, and marketing materials. We hope you love the fresh new look as much as we do.

This is more than a new name. It's a reflection of who we are today and where we're heading next.

We can't wait to welcome you to Southend City Community College and share everything that's still to come in the months ahead.
