Our A Level Biology students headed to Westcliff Beach to collect valuable fieldwork data for their Practical Endorsement. Students investigated the distribution and abundance of lichen, as well as identifying and recording the different seaweeds found along the shoreline. A fantastic opportunity to put their ecological knowledge and practical skills into action!

🌟 Sixth Form Enrichment Day at Stubbers! 🌟

What an amazing day our Year 12 and 13 students had at Stubbers on Monday! From canoeing, rock climbing and combat archery to laser tag and axe throwing, there was something for everyone. 🛶🧗‍♀️🏹🎯

Our Peru Team also took part in the trip to Stubbers on Monday 🛶🧗‍♀️🏹🎯
It was a great opportunity for the team to strengthen friendships, build confidence and develop their teamwork ahead of their life-changing expedition to Peru with Camps International next summer.

🎭 What a fantastic workshop! 🎭

On Monday, our GCSE and A Level Drama students had a brilliant time working with Florence from The Paper Birds.

The students explored The Paper Birds’ unique approach to devising theatre, learning more about their creative processes and experimenting with new ideas and techniques. It was fantastic to see them getting involved, taking creative risks and having so much fun along the way!

A huge thank you to Florence for such an inspiring and engaging workshop. We learnt lots about The Paper Birds and their approach to making theatre, and we’re really looking forward to taking those influences into our own future work. 🎭✨

🎭✨ What a fantastic lunchtime!

Yesterday, students in Years 9, 10 and 11 had great fun taking part in a musical theatre workshop with Michelle from LODS (Leigh Operatic and Dramatic Society). 🎶

They learnt the choreography to one of the numbers from LODS’ upcoming production of We Will Rock You! 🎸🤘

We all had such a great time — and we’re already looking forward to next week’s session! 🌟

Yesterday we saw Jasmine from the Life Skills Company come in to complete an Independent Learning conference with our year 12 & Year 13 students during our Enrichment lessons. The focus was on how to skim, and speed read effectively and then we moved on to look at effective note taking. We make sure our students are supported to learn effectively at A level, the GCSE to A level jump is HUGE - we help our students with practical methods and give them time to practice these skills.

We build these opportunities into our Enrichment taught lessons to support students as they move from yr 11 into year 12 and year 12 into year 13.

The students said they loved how practical the session was and they felt they could take the skills they had learnt into their lessons and their supervised study periods staight away 🙂

A huge thank you to Jasmine and the Life Skills Company for their energy and support today. We loved it.

The SVP Centre in Southend is looking for young volunteers to help out around the centre on Saturdays!👀

Many hands make light work, and the SVP Team need extra hands to help them look after those in need. The tasks involve everything from cleaning, fundraising and coming up with new ideas to helping out in the kitchen or donation room.✨

Key Details:
Every Saturday 10am - 2pm🕙
Ages 11-17 years📅
Adult supervision with DBS checked staff✅

Volunteering is a fantastic way to learn and develop employable skills, and the hours spent volunteering can also go towards your Duke of Edinburgh Award. Plus, it's a great way to help out the local community and practice the St Bernard's motto "love one another as I have loved you."

If you would like to volunteer, simply turn up to the centre on the day (with a parent) or email [email protected] to have the paper sent to you.
