To all of our fellow childminders..

If any of you are feeling a little stressed with all the recent changes I just wanted to say we’re right there with you ♥️

Making tax digital, the removal of the 10% wear and tear, new safer sleeping requirements and the new screen time guidance. There seems to be new changes every other week and we’re all having to adjust accordingly.

It feels like we’re all being pushed, pulled and squished into a box of expectations and it’s a little suffocating to say the least!

Childminders have always been known for their uniqueness! We have lots of childminders in our area and we’ve always encouraged people to “shop around”. See what’s on offer and seek out the setting that speaks to you. We are all different and that’s exactly how it should be!

Lately it seems they just want us all to be more like nurseries and it feels like we’re being stripped of our individuality which is so upsetting. That cosy, warm and homely feeling of our setting feels like it’s slowly slipping from our grasp.

If you feel a little deflated, confused, stressed or like you’re just continuously processing.. just know you’re not alone in those feelings. We’re in this together ♥️

“Childminders are at the heart of our early years system, providing high quality, flexible care where children can thrive from their earliest days. Their support is invaluable, especially for children with SEND and those from disadvantaged backgrounds.

We’re committed to giving every child the best start in life, and that means backing every part of our early years workforce. I congratulate Coram PACEY on launching the Magic of Childminding campaign and welcome the spotlight it shines on the extraordinary dedication of childminders across England."

Education Secretary, Bridget Phillipson

Today, Coram PACEY's campaign celebrates the vital role childminders play in supporting children, families and communities across England and Wales and encouraging more parents to choose childminding as an option for their family.

It is a love letter to the childminding profession. We want childminders to feel seen, valued and supported by the early years sector and general public because without childminders, we would lose the magic of these home-from-home settings that all children and families deserve to experience.

What do we want you to do:

1) Download the campaign's digital social images and share on your social pages using the hashtag

2) Reach out to your local authority, ask if they have seen the campaign and what they are doing to support it and the childminders in your area.

3) Reflect on your own amazing practice and your impact on the children you care for. We want to hear from you and use your examples in our ‘Magic of Childminding’ report.
