Only just landing after a beautifully relaxed time at Purbeck Valley Folk Festival 🌿🎶

So many lovely people stopped by to sit and make with us, and it was so nice hearing how much people enjoyed simply taking a bit of time out.

A chance to switch off, make something, have a chat and just be in the moment. So many people commented on how good it was for their head and wellbeing.

There really is something special about sitting together, making and talking — especially with no pressure to be good at anything!

A lovely reminder of why creativity matters. 💚

A level Results Day.

Well done to all the A Level students out there. I know how hard most of them have worked, and the pressure young people feel to do well.

Particularly in Art and Design. There will have been hours and hours of effort, skill and time, invested into the work in their sketchbooks and final pieces.

Sometimes people see art as an easy option, when in fact it's one of the subjects that requires the most commitment and personalised input.

Well done to all the parents too who support their child's learning and love of a subject that isn't always top priority in schools.

We need creative thinkers and inspirational, innovative designers and artists in this country. They make our lives and spaces just that little bit more interesting, beautiful, joyful and human to be in. This is why creative expression is near the top of Maslows Hierarchy of needs. ☀️

Tomorrow I have been asked to give a talk to Adult Social Care Learning Disability & Autism teams about Creativate and what it has to offer. It's part of the 'Fulfilled Lives' workshop from Community Catalysts Bournemouth Christchurch and Poole, and I'm thrilled to be attending.

It's really made me have to think about my journey here and all the people I have worked with along the way.
