Dinosaurs, volcanoes and LOTS of curiosity at Paint Pots City Centre! 🦕🌋

After some of our children returned from the holidays with a big interest in dinosaurs, we followed their curiosity and turned it into a whole adventure.

Together, the children created their own volcano, explored a dinosaur-themed tuff tray and experimented with different materials to see what would make their volcano erupt. There was plenty of fizzing, bubbling and excited conversation as they watched what happened and shared their observations.

We love seeing where the children’s interests take us next.

🧸 The teddy bears have officially taken over Paint Pots!

To celebrate Teddy Bear Day, the children brought their favourite teddies in from home and they joined in with all the fun throughout the day. 💛

We’ve had teddy bear tea parties, water play and even decorated our own teddy in the tuff tray, so it’s safe to say our cuddly visitors have been fully involved in nursery life this week.

Safe to say, it’s been a particularly fluffy week, 🥹🧸

🧸 Have you met Paint Pots Bear?!

To celebrate Teddy Bear Day, we’re shining a little spotlight on this very special bear who already has quite the social calendar 💛

Once a week, Paint Pots Bear heads home with one of our children, complete with a bear-shaped backpack and their own PJs, ready for a new adventure. They’ve been on family outings, joined in at home and have even been taken along to Mummy and Daddy’s work!

When Paint Pots Bear comes back to pre-school, the children love hearing all about their adventures together at welcome time. Everyone gets a turn to take them home and, because the children decided Paint Pots Bear can be a boy or a girl, we leave the name up to them too.

A very well-travelled little member of the Paint Pots family. 🧸💛

Literacy starts long before a child learns to read or write. 💛

It begins in the everyday moments: singing a favourite rhyme, chatting about what we can see, sharing a story or creating imaginary worlds through play.

At Paint Pots, our practitioners build these opportunities into each day, helping children develop their vocabulary, communication and confidence while having plenty of fun along the way.

Because every conversation, song and story is helping to build the foundations for what comes next. 📚🌱

For Read a Book Day, we’re celebrating the stories that make us laugh, spark big imaginations and create those lovely moments of connection between children and their practitioners.

Books are part of everyday life at Paint Pots, whether it’s sitting down together for a favourite story, discovering something new or simply finding a quiet corner and turning the pages at your own pace.

Because a love of stories can start long before a child learns to read. 🌱

A lovely start to the new term at Paint Pots City Centre Pre-school!

It’s been so wonderful welcoming familiar faces back and meeting lots of new little ones too. 💛

This week has been all about settling in, finding our feet, exploring the room and getting creative together. We’re already looking forward to all the fun, adventures and memories this new term will bring!

One of our settings has been busy creating some beautiful flowers. Using coloured water and pipettes to add lots of colour to their flower petals.
We think they look fantastic! 🌸🌈

During lunchtimes at one of our settings, we've been encouraging the children to pour their own water. This not only fosters their independence but also helps them prepare for the move to the Preschool room. Wecset up a milkshake tuff tray to further promote their self-reliance. The toddlers had a fantastic time using their imaginations to create their very own 'milkshakes'. They loved the process of pouring their milkshakes into cups, balancing one hand on the cup while the other held the jug. To add a fun touch, they scooped shaving foam to act as whipped cream and creatively decorated their milkshakes with fruity ice cube shapes. It was a delightful activity for everyone involved!

We enjoyed a fun and messy sensory activity. 🎂

The children were invited to use their imaginations and pretend to decorate cakes. What started off as a calm activity quickly turned into a wonderfully messy experience, with shaving foam everywhere and lots of laughter along the way! 😂🤍

The children had so much fun getting creative and showed some real promise as future cake decorators! We then took our play one step further by using the foam and pool noodles to build towers, which resulted in even more foam escaping the tray! 😄

It was a fantastic session filled with creativity, sensory exploration, imagination and lots of fun.
