“Asking someone to leave because they are a migrant isn’t patriotism—it’s discrimination.

Why are groups allowed to roam the streets intimidating, harassing, and sometimes even assaulting immigrants? What is the South African government doing to protect people from this kind of abuse?

No one should live in fear because of their nationality.”

How Long Must the People Wait? Patience Is Running Out.
Current State of the Oterkpolu Bridge

The Oterkpolu Bridge continues to deteriorate while the replacement project remains abandoned. The contractor is still not back on site despite the countless appeals, questions, and calls from the community.

The people were promised action. The people were promised that the contractor would return. Yet months later, there is still no visible progress and very little communication.

How much longer are we expected to wait?

This bridge is a lifeline for Oterkpolu, Kroboland, the Eastern Region, and beyond. Farmers, traders, students, transport operators, and ordinary citizens depend on it every day. The longer this situation continues, the greater the risk to lives, livelihoods, transportation, and economic activities.

The bridge has now become a death trap for its users. Every day, people cross it not knowing what could happen next. Lives are at stake, and we cannot continue to ignore the danger. We should not have to wait for a tragedy before action is taken.

The community has remained patient. We have used our voices. We have asked questions. We have appealed to the authorities. We have waited.

But patience is running out.

The people cannot continue to watch an important bridge deteriorate while the replacement project remains abandoned. We cannot continue to be met with silence while our concerns go unanswered.

If the silence and inaction continue, the people may have no choice but to consider a peaceful demonstration to draw attention to this urgent issue and demand the action that was promised.

This is not what we want. What we want is simple: bring the contractor back to site, resume construction immediately, and complete the bridge.

The people deserve answers. The people deserve action. The people deserve better.

Please listen before frustration turns into public action.

Mohee to Dodowa, a proud Dangme town located within the Shai (Sɛ) Traditional Area in Ghana’s Greater Accra Region.

Strategically situated along the Accra–Dodowa–Somanya–Odumase Krobo Highway, Dodowa lies approximately 39 kilometres northeast of Accra, Ghana’s capital city. The town serves as the District Capital of the Shai-Osudoku District, acting as the administrative, commercial, and governance centre of the district while serving as an important gateway between the Greater Accra and Eastern Regions.

Dodowa is home to a vibrant Dangme-speaking people whose rich culture, traditions, and heritage continue to thrive from generation to generation.

Known for its historical significance, natural beauty, and warm hospitality, Dodowa is home to the famous Dodowa Forest and Tsenku (Kyenku) Waterfalls, while also holding an important place in Ghana’s history as the site associated with the end of the Katamanso War of 1826.

Agriculture remains the heartbeat of the local economy, with hardworking farmers producing cassava, maize, vegetables, mangoes, pineapples, bananas, and other crops that support livelihoods across the district.

Each year, the people of Dodowa proudly celebrate the Shai Ngmayem Festival, showcasing the rich traditions, music, dance, history, and unity of the Shai people.

DANGME LAND IS MOURNING

It is with sadness that I have learned of the passing of HRM Nɛnɛ(Nii) Tetteh Otu II, Paramount Chief of the Kpone Dangme Traditional Area.

Born on 1st February 1953, Nɛnɛ served as Paramount Chief from 1989 to 2026, dedicating many years of his life to the leadership of Kpone and its people.

As a Dangme activist, I recognize this moment as a significant chapter in the history of Kpone and the wider Dangme State. Regardless of our different perspectives on issues affecting our traditional area, the passing of a Paramount Chief is a moment for reflection, respect, and unity.

My condolences go to the royal family, the chiefs and elders, and all the people of Kpone who mourn this loss.

As we bid farewell to Nene, I also hope that the future of Kpone will bring renewed commitment to the preservation, promotion, and development of the Dangme language, culture, identity, and traditions for generations to come.

May he rest in peace.

Dangme Ma Kpomo, Kpone Ma Kpomo.

UPDATE: Contractor Begins Fixing Drainage Defect on the Somanya–Kpong Road Project

Good news!

The contractor has started work to address the drainage defect at Atua Compania Filling Station on the Somanya–Kpong Road Project. The old, smaller gutter in front of the filling station is being demolished and replaced with a larger drainage structure that will connect properly to the newly constructed gutter system.

This corrective work is expected to remove the bottleneck that was causing water to back up and overflow onto the road, as well as flood nearby homes, shops, and businesses during heavy rainfall.

We would like to thank the Ministry of Roads and Highways, the Roads Min. Reg. Min, the Lower Manya MCE, the project engineers, and the contractor for listening to the concerns raised by residents and taking steps to address the problem.

We also extend our appreciation to all the residents, shop owners, community members, and social media users who shared videos, photographs, comments, and information about the issue. Your collective efforts helped bring attention to a genuine concern affecting the community.

This demonstrates the positive impact of constructive civic engagement and responsible social media advocacy. When citizens raise concerns respectfully, support them with evidence, and engage the relevant authorities, meaningful action can be achieved.

While this is a positive development, our work is not yet done. We will continue to monitor the project to ensure that the corrective measures are completed properly and that the flooding problem is permanently resolved.

If you see something that is not right, speak up. If you identify a problem, report it. Together, we can help ensure that public projects deliver the quality and value that our communities deserve.

Awetsɛ John Atteh Matey, Awenyɛ Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey Roads & Highways Thank you very much, please do not stop here, make sure all defects are checked and corrected.

UPDATE: THE FAMILY HAS BEEN FOUND

With mixed emotions, I would like to share an important update regarding the search for Mr. Nartey David T. T.

Through the support of everyone who shared the post, offered suggestions, and provided leads, the family has successfully located their father’s relatives after more than 20 years of searching.

While this is a moment of relief and gratitude, it is also a moment of sadness. The family has learned from their father’s relatives that he passed away many years ago, when his children were still very young.

A message I received from the son says it all:

“Sir, I don’t know how to thank you. 🤲😭😭 May God lift you so much. Less than 30 minutes ago, I received a call from my sisters on my father’s side, and we immediately had a conference call. They told me they had been looking for us for a very long time.”

Although the family did not get the opportunity to meet their father again, they have finally found answers, connected with their relatives, and learned more about their roots after decades of uncertainty.

This search began with a simple post and a hope that someone, somewhere, would recognize a face, a name, or a story. Thanks to the power of community and the kindness of strangers, that hope became reality.

I would like to express my heartfelt appreciation to everyone who shared the post, tagged friends, offered suggestions, provided leads, and kept the family in their prayers. Every share, comment, and piece of information played a part in making this possible.

Special thanks to the people of Kordiabe and everyone who reached out with advice and support. Your kindness helped bring closure and answers to a family that had been searching for more than 20 years.

May the soul of Mr. Nartey David T. T. continue to rest in perfect peace. 🕊️

The family has requested privacy as they continue reconnecting with their relatives and processing this emotional news. Thank you all for your understanding, respect, and support.

Thank you for proving once again that social media can bring people together, restore lost connections, and change lives.

HELP US FIND OUR FATHER – PLEASE SHARE

We are appealing to the public for help in locating our father, Mr. Nartey David T. T.

My sister and I have been searching for him for over 20 years. According to our mother, he left home one day and never returned. He was gone before I was born. Today, I am 26 years old, and my sister is 30.

Unfortunately, our mother has not been willing to tell us where our father originally came from or provide information about his family background. As a result, we have had to rely on information from people who knew him in our efforts to find him.

Through our search, we learned that he worked at MALATA MARKET in Accra New Town as a cassava supplier between approximately 1994 and 2000. Although we do not know the exact year he left the market, many elderly traders still remember him very well.

At MALATA MARKET, he was popularly known by the nicknames “AWOTSE” and “OSORFO.” If you traded at MALATA MARKET during the 1990s or early 2000s, you may remember him by these names.

At that time, he was believed to have been around 40 years old, which means he may now be in his late 60s or early 70s.

We were also informed that he comes from Kordiabe, a community within the Shai Traditional Area. Kordiabe is located along the Dodowa–Somanya road and is close to Dodowa, Ayikuma, Manya Jorpanya, Agomeda, and Doryumu.

Unfortunately, we do not know any of his relatives or family members from that area, and we have no way of tracing them.

If you know Mr. Nartey David T. T., also known as AWOTSE or OSORFO at MALATA MARKET, or if you know any of his relatives, friends, former colleagues, or acquaintances from MALATA MARKET, Kordiabe, or the surrounding communities, please contact us. Any information, no matter how small, could help us reconnect with our father and learn more about our family history.

Please help us by sharing this post widely, especially with people in Kordiabe, Dodowa, Ayikuma, Manya Jorpanya, Agomeda, Doryumu, Somanya, Accra New Town, and surrounding communities.

After more than 20 years, we still hope to find our father. One share could reach the right person and help reunite a family.
