Year 2 in spotlight… Ducks class for Arts Week.
The children have thoroughly enjoyed welcoming visitors into school to teach them a variety of dances, which they picked up quickly and performed with great enthusiasm. They also took part in a gymnastics session and also learned a song, all of which they embraced with confidence and excitement.
The class became wonderfully creative poets, writing poems about something that brings them joy. They also worked brilliantly as a team to create their own stormbreak, titled Flower Fields. They were very proud to share both their stormbreak and their poems with the Year 4 children.
Alongside all this creativity, the children have shown impressive determination and resilience with their times tables.
I am so proud of their creativity, courage and positivity during a week where they stepped outside their usual routines.
Thank you to all parents who joined us for Learning in Action and supporting our creation of our pastel portraits.

A lovely way to celebrate Clean Air Day! Great to see so many families leave the car behind today and stride to school. Thank you to our wonderful volunteers who made this happen for our pupils. 💚

This Kim, our WeCAN project officer, visited St John the Baptist School, Waltham Chase for their Clean Air Day breakfast... celebrating the fact that so many pupils left the car at home to walk and stride, walk, scoot or cycle into school today.
Starting active travel habit young leads to life long habits that are good for our health and our planet. Reducing the cars on the road reduces pollution which contributes to climate change.
Well done to all pupils across the district who have joined in with active travel this week.

What an inspirational visit from Gina Rees a local author and illustrator. She shared her wonderful books and even brought the characters to meet the children. 🐶 🐕 🐙 There are a limited number of signed copies of her books in the school office if you would like to purchase one.

A lovely Learning in action session this morning for Year R and KS 1. As part of all children are resting a portrait of someone who brings them joy, their family members/partner created their own ports too to be displayed together. Each year group has a different media to use, these will be on exhibition in the copse during the Bounce Bananza on 3rd July. 🖼️ 🎨

Year 4 in the spotlight… Even with the rainy weather, Otter class has continued to be enthusiastic about their learning. On Monday, they were the first class to go down to the copse area on the field and try out the new den building equipment as part of our lunchtime provision. In music this half term, the children have been dusting off their recorders and have been recapping playing A, B and G. They even played a piece of music together which combined all three notes and had to change to each one. In P E, they have been learning and developing their fielding and batting skills with rounders. Finally, we would like to say how proud we all are of the Year 4s with their determination and resilience with their times tables this week. They have all completed their Multiplication Times Table Check and have all completed it to the best of their
ability. 🤩💚 Find out more in this week’s jottings.
