For our RDC students, every session is part of a much bigger journey towards stepping into the studio as confident, capable dance teachers themselves.

And we absolutely love getting to be part of it.

The studio doors are open, the tap shoes are on and a brand new year at RDC is officially underway!

We’re so excited to welcome back familiar faces, meet our new students and see what everyone achieves over the months ahead.

There’s a lot to look forward to, and we couldn’t be happier to be back doing what we love.

Where do dance teachers go when they just want to DANCE?

Not teach, demonstrate, dance alongside their students. Not walk into a professional/open class and feel like they need to perform.

Just… take class.

From September, we’re putting a dance class at the beginning of every RDC day, and we’re opening them up to dance teachers too.

Monday 9.15am — Jazz with Rachel
Tuesday 9.15am — Tap with Laura
Wednesday 9.15am — Ballet with Tilly
Thursday 9.15am — Contemporary with Libby

You don’t need to be studying with RDC. You don’t need to be working towards an exam. And you definitely don’t need to be “dance fit”. 😂 Wear what you want. Come as you are.

The idea is simply to create somewhere dance teachers can keep dancing, training and doing something for themselves, alongside other teachers who get it.

Because we spend an awful lot of time creating spaces for everybody else to dance.

We’d quite like to create one for us too. ❤️

At RDC, our students learn to look beyond their own technique and understand how to communicate it, demonstrate it and help another dancer develop it.

It’s about building the knowledge, confidence and practical teaching skills that turn years of dance training into a career you can take anywhere.

This is where dancers become teachers. 🤍

At RDC, your own training is only part of the journey. It’s also about learning to see movement through a teacher’s eyes, understanding technique in greater depth and developing the skills to guide others with confidence.

Plenty of time is still spent doing what brought you here in the first place too... Getting into the studio and dancing!

A new degree pathway for dance teachers

We're delighted to announce a new partnership with Northern School of Contemporary Dance (NSCD), launching the BA (Hons) Professional Dance Teaching and Education (Level 6 Top-Up Degree), delivered by ISTD Academy from September 2027.

Designed for experienced dance teachers, the programme will support the development of advanced teaching practice, leadership skills and professional expertise, helping shape the next generation of dance educators.
