There are so many things to say here…i’ll try to be brief
Our bodies are insanely impressive, but they are always going to take the path of least resistance bc they are designed to keep us safe.
Which means that if they don’t have a reason to keep optimising, they simply won’t
They’ll do the bare minimum to conserve minimum energy.
That doesn’t sound like that big a deal until we have to do something hard, like healing from an injury
The body is also crazy smart and it will undertake some repair, but it will probs not do a great job (the quickest workaround) & will probs also take ages if it hasn’t been equipped with the tools to do so
Not saying strength training alone will magically fix your injuries lol I wish. But it will damn well help your body recover better/faster & will actually hugely decrease the risk of your even getting injured & having to stop the fun s**t you love doing
Like dancing
Bc it helps you actually understand your body, its limits, what’s safe, what isn’t, control, intensity, intention (and many other things)
so you can make the most of the gift that your body is without trashing it in the process
If you’re a dancer who’s still not strength training (particularly if you are teaching too) - dude you need to do something about that right now

The creative process is a mixed bag
It can get ugly; it can also blow your mind
Play the music, shut off your brain & let your body explore for a min
Not knowing what will come out is the most exciting part if you trust your body
Swipe for the perfect depiction of the creative process hehe

your goals are closer than you think

I honestly have a chronically tight back
And so do most dancers I know
And just stretching doesn’t really do much for me nor for them bc it’s not usually a flexibility issue
But a lot of stored tension that goes beyond individual muscle tightness
This is one of my FAVOURITE EVER EVER EVER movements that literally soothes my body and my soul and literally makes everything better
Hahaha jokes but honestly it’s so good, with only 3-5 reps so much of the tension is gone & I feel so much more mobile in my body
To move the spine slowly & intentionally like this does it so much good + also gets you more aware of where you may need to improve control (moving the spine segment by segment is actually so much harder than it seems)
