Mediterranean Diet

Rich in flavourful ingredients like fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and heart-healthy fats, the Mediterranean diet is equal parts delicious and nutritious.

It’s also associated with a variety of benefits and may help support brain function, promote heart health, regulate blood sugar levels, and more.

Although there are no concrete rules for how to follow the Mediterranean diet, there are many general guidelines you can follow to incorporate the principles of the diet into your daily routine.

The Mediterranean diet is based on the traditional foods that people used to eat in countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea, including Türkiye, Greece, Morocco, Algeria, France, Spain, and Italy.

Researchers noted that these people were exceptionally healthy and had a low risk of many chronic conditions.

Benefits:
Promotes heart health
Supports healthy blood sugar levels
Protects brain function

Dear all,

If you haven’t heard yet, a series of devastating earthquakes have hit southern Turkey (now known as Türkiye) and north-west Syria killing over 44,000 people and injuring many more. The first deadly earthquake struck while people were inside their homes, asleep in their beds, with no warning signs. More than 54,000 buildings, including hospitals and schools, have been destroyed or damaged. People have been left without shelter in freezing winter conditions. People need urgent aid to survive.

The Southampton community has been amazing in supporting the victims. As part of our Earthquake Emergency Appeal, we continue our fundraisers. You are kindly invited to our Charity Food Festival on Sunday, March 5, 2023, from 11 am to 4 pm at Southampton Medina Mosque car park.

We will have lots of delicious foods, kebabs, sweets, cakes and pastries as well as Mediterranean Cuisine specials.

You will find the bouncy castle, face painting and henna for children.

Those who want to hire a stall in the event, please email [email protected]

All proceeds will go to earthquake victims. Please invite your friends and neighbours as well. You can come, donate and show your support to the relatives of survivors in Southampton. We can't wait to see you!!!

We hope to see you all there to help our friends in Türkiye who were generous to the UK during Covid times and have been also helpful for Ukraine so far!

So it is our time now.

Many thanks,
Hamza

See you at the Southampton Medina Mosque car park on Sunday, 5th March.
