Today in our Meet the Team we have the incredible Miss Kirsty 💫

Kirsty has been teaching at King’s Academy for nearly four years and brings endless energy, enthusiasm and fun to every class. Having started dancing just before the age of three, the Parish Rooms has been her second home for the past 23 years.

She is passionate about teaching and has built incredibly special bonds with her students, creating a supportive and encouraging environment where they can thrive. Watching each student grow in confidence and helping to shape their future is the part of the job she cherishes most.

Outside of the studio, Kirsty is a huge Portsmouth FC fan and has recently become a proud mum to a beautiful baby girl — a new adventure she is loving every moment of.

Today’ Meet the Team is the amazing Miss Keira 🤩

Keira began dancing at the age of three at SJ Academy of Dance, where she trained in modern, tap and ballet. She has completed her DDE in tap and modern. Alongside her work at Kings, Keira continues to develop professionally in a variety of ways- she is an associate dancer with Tap Attack and also runs her own photography business.

At Kings, Keira teaches on Mondays, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturdays delivering classes in modern, tap and the lower school programme. Having experience firsthand the positive impact dance can have on confidence, personal growth and friendships, she is passionate about passing that on to her students. She strives to create a supportive environment where dancers can enjoy themselves and feel proud of their achievements.

Outside the studio, Keira enjoys watching football, travelling and, of course, a good coffee.

Next up on our Meet the Team we have the lovely Miss Lauren 💫

Meet Lauren ✨

Lauren has been part of the King’s family for five years and, at some point or another, has taught almost every student across the school!

A true creative at heart, Lauren leads every class with warmth, imagination and a genuine passion for dance. She creates a supportive environment where students feel confident to be themselves, explore their creativity and flourish both as dancers and as individuals.

Lauren holds both a BA and Master’s degree in Contemporary Dance Performance. After a brief career performing professionally, she discovered her love for teaching and has never looked back. She is a fully qualified DDE Modern teacher, with Ballet and Tap qualifications coming soon, and is also qualified in Acrobatic Arts and Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT).

At King’s, Lauren teaches our Lower School Programme, Upper School and Adult programs in Acro, Contemporary, Ballet and Tap and Modern making her a familiar and much-loved face throughout the academy.

Outside the studio, you’ll usually find Lauren watching Formula 1 or football, going to yoga and Pilates class or enjoying cuddles with her two cats, Nico and Senna. 🏁🐈

Learning it and now helping others learn too! 🤩

Emily has been dancing with Jess for five years and now gets to help with some of our younger students too. It’s a real full-circle moment, giving her the chance to grow as a performer while discovering what it’s like to teach and encourage the next generation.

With ballet, tap, street, acro AND youth theatre on the timetable, she certainly had a busy day! 🌟

We’re so proud to see our students stepping up, sharing what they’ve learned and becoming such brilliant role models within the King’s family.

Every day this week we are giving you the chance to meet our amazing team here at King’s ✨ starting off with our wonderful principal!

Meet Miss Jess 👋🏼✨

Miss Jess is the founder of King’s Academy of Performing Arts and has been teaching dance for over 20 years. She is an ISTD Examiner, and a Fellow of the ISTD in Modern Theatre.

Jess is passionate about creating brilliant dance education where children can grow in confidence, develop their skills and, most importantly, genuinely love coming to class. 🫶🏼

You might not see Miss Jess teaching quite as many classes as she once did, but she is still very much behind the scenes at King’s, supporting our fabulous teachers, developing the school and making sure King’s continues to be a pretty special place to grow up dancing. 🥹🩰

When King’s becomes part of the family 🥰

Hearing how a child has progressed through My Grown Up and Me into preschool is incredibly special. Along the way, King’s has helped her come out of her shell, make new friends and develop a real sense of who she is.

Now her little brother is preparing to join too, and we honestly couldn’t ask for a bigger compliment!

Could King’s be the right place for your family? Get in touch to learn about joining us this term. 💫

Building dancers at every level with Miss Laura! 😁✨

Laura has worked alongside Jess for around four years, completing her teacher training with her before helping to build JM School of Dance together.

She’s now here at King’s teaching our Enhanced Classes as well as dancers aged 18 months right through to 18 years. One minute it’s tiny first steps and the next it’s advanced training, so life in Miss Laura’s classes is never boring!

Want to discover which class could be the right fit for you or your little one?

Explore our timetable online or send us a message today! ❤️
