📚 We are really looking forward to seeing our Southampton early years and childcare providers at our exhibition 'A Book a Day Lights the Way' this afternoon!

🔖 We have some great information, exhibits, examples of good practice and giveaways! There will be lots of children’s books to take away to set up your own loaning library for parents, including EAL books and BookStart packs.

Bring a bag to fill up with freebies. We also have a free prize draw for completed evaluations. 🎉🔖📚

Entry is through the main Reception of Itchen College. Parking is available on the surrounding roads from 4 pm, or in the college car park after 4.30 pm.

🚸 We hope your children are settling well into Year R.

🌟 If you have children with SEN in your class, or children showing signs of needing extra support, then please join the YR SEN Surgery, where you can discuss ideas and strategies with early years professionals and other YR colleagues.

🌟 The Early Years Advisory Teachers, SEN Team, Speech and Language Therapy Service, Springwell School, Portage and the Neurodiversity Team will all be on hand to offer advice, discuss interventions and strategies, share expertise and help with problem solving.

✏ The session is a free drop in surgery for those working in Year R - teachers, SENDCos and support staff.

❓ Are you required to write, or contribute to, EHC needs assessment applications?

✏️ This two hour virtual training is designed for those who would benefit from an overview of the EHCP application process, including how to request an EHC needs assessment, working with other professionals and parents, timescales, and how to complete an application using the Southampton SEN Portal.

📖 We are looking forward to seeing our Southampton preschool, nursery and childminder colleagues on Thursday at our exciting interactive exhibition celebrating the National Year of Reading!

📚 We have been busy planning and we have lots to share with you, including storytelling and book sharing ideas and examples and lots of free resources. Our exhibitors will be on hand to chat with you and offer support and inspiration 🎉

🌟 The Attention Autism 2 day Foundation Training and the Curiosity Programme will both be delivered this term by accredited Attention Autism tutors.

🌟 This is a great opportunity to attend one or both of these excellent courses to learn more about how to build communication, attention and engagement in young children through the power of the irresistible invitation to learn.

🌟 Southampton Early Years and Childcare Providers who take funded children are eligible for the full cost of the training to be refunded through SEN Inclusion Funding.

🌟🌟 FREE TRAINING - School Nursery SENDCo - Essentials Package

⭐ The Early Years Advisory Teachers/Area SENDCos are pleased to offer this free 6-part training to further support school SENDCos who are responsible for, or overseeing, SEND in School Nurseries in Southampton.

✏️ The training will be delivered as 2 twilight virtual sessions per term and will cover all aspects of early years SEND, including SEN funding streams, early intervention, EYFS statutory requirements, transition to YR, and liaising with outside agencies and other professionals. There will also be an opportunity to network and establish support systems.

🗓 Part 1 of the training package will be held on Thursday 17 September, 3.30 – 5 pm, on Teams.

⭐ This session aims to give an overview of the statutory guidance: Allergy Safety in Schools and Benedict's Law.

⭐ It will cover the key aspects of the statutory guidance, enabling early years providers to be get ahead, as it is likely, at some point, that the statutory guidance will be extended to early years settings.
