“I’m fine.”
Two words that can hide a fu***ng war.
The person laughing the loudest.
The one who never misses training.
The one cracking jokes between rounds.
The one who looks strong.
The one who always checks on everybody else.
They can still be drowning.
Today is World Su***de Prevention Day.
And we need to say this loudly:
You do not have to wait until someone is visibly falling apart before you ask if they're okay.
Check on your training partner.
Check on the mate who's gone quiet.
Check on the strong one.
Check on the person who suddenly seems too okay.
And when you ask…
Actually listen to the answer.
At Blue Dragon, we spend a lot of time teaching people how to fight.
But some of the hardest fights will never happen on these mats.
They happen silently.
Inside people's heads.
Behind closed doors.
At 2am when nobody else knows they're struggling.
If that's you right now:
Stay.
Come to training.
Sit on the edge of the mats.
Message somebody.
Tell someone you're not okay.
Cry.
Shout.
Talk.
Just don't convince yourself that everyone would be better without you.
They wouldn't be.
And if someone tells you they're struggling, don't try to fix everything.
Just be there.
Sometimes the most important thing you can give another human being isn't advice.
It's the knowledge that they don't have to fight alone.
Our mats will always have space for you.
