Congratulations to all of our Year 13 students on a fantastic set of of A Level and Level 3 results!

It's been a great morning, and a pleasure to see what exciting next steps the young people have in store for them.

With a quarter of all A Level grades A or A* and around a half of all grades A* to B the students can look forward to a bright future.

Our expert teaching, small classes and high expectations helps students achieve their aspirations and we're proud to work with such outstanding young people.

World Challenge Expedition – Borneo 2026 | Part 4
What an incredible way to end our expedition! Our final few days revolved around Borneo's amazing wildlife as we explored the Discovery Rainforest Centre, the Sun Bear Conservation Centre and the Sepilok Orangutan Sanctuary.
Walking high above the rainforest on the treetop canopy walk brought us face-to-face with some incredible wildlife, while an unforgettable night walk saw our expert guide help us spot fascinating nocturnal rainforest creatures by torchlight.
Learning about the endangered sun bears inspired us all to become passionate 'Save the Bears' ambassadors, and watching the orangutans swing effortlessly out of the jungle for their snacks was a truly magical experience.
This expedition has been a once-in-a-lifetime adventure, filled with challenges, teamwork, resilience and unforgettable memories. We'll be bringing home countless stories and photos, but only those who shared this journey will truly understand the lasting impact it has had on us all.

World Challenge Expedition 2026 - Part 3. The past four days have been an unforgettable adventure as we took part in a rainforest conservation project in the heart of Borneo. Living in a rainforest camp, we headed into the jungle to help protect the forest by clearing fast-growing grasses and vines that were preventing mature trees from thriving. Armed with machetes, we also cleared a new planting area before planting 55 fruit tree saplings to help restore habitats lost to logging and wildfires.
Our conservation work continued at a local conservation centre, where we collected seeds and tiny seedlings from the forest floor and planted them in a tree nursery. These young trees will be carefully nurtured before being replanted in the rainforest, helping to protect this incredible ecosystem for future generations.
The highlight for many was an unforgettable sunset river cruise. With the expert eyes of our guide, we spotted crocodiles, hornbills and several species of monkeys along the riverbanks. The most magical moment came when we were lucky enough to see a wild orangutan in its natural habitat—an incredible sight that none of us will forget!

World Challenge Borneo - Part 2
Jungle trek - a challenging but incredible experience. Our fabulous guides not only taught us about the rainforest but also demonstrated survival and bamboo skills - we caught a frog in a bamboo trap (released!)
We then spent two days with a wonderful family, they were incredible hosts; took us on a tour around their village, we learnt about coffee production, collected honey, visited a pineapple jam factory and were treated to a cultural evening of song, dance and food.
Now onto part 3 - out reforestation initiative project.

World Challenge Expedition - Borneo
After arriving in Kota Kinabalu, we have explored the city, learned about its rich history, and have enjoyed some delicious local cuisine. Yesterday evening, we headed out for a paddleboarding session, taking in the stunning scenery.
Today's highlight was a full-day boat trip, where we had the opportunity to snorkel and discover the incredible marine life. It was an unforgettable experience and a fantastic way to experience the natural beauty of Borneo and begin our adventure here.

As another wonderful school year comes to a close, we would like to thank all of our students, families and staff for making it such a memorable year.

From achievements in the classroom to successes on the sports field, stage, and beyond, we are incredibly proud of everything our students have accomplished and the way they have lived out our school values throughout the year.

We wish all of our families a happy, restful and well-deserved summer break, filled with opportunities to relax and recharge!

We are excited to welcome our new Year 7 and Year 12 students on 2 September, and look forward to seeing the rest of our school community return on 3 September for another year of learning, friendship and success.

✨ Year 11 Prom 2026 – A Night to Remember ✨

A couple of weeks ago, we were delighted to celebrate our Year 11 Prom at St Mary's Stadium, and we are pleased to share a few photographs from what was a truly memorable evening.

The celebrations began outside the venue, where students arrived in style to walk the red carpet in front of proud parents, family members and friends. There was a wonderful atmosphere as everyone gathered to admire the incredible dresses, smart suits and creative arrivals, capturing photographs and celebrating this important milestone together.

Inside, students enjoyed an evening of food, music, dancing and laughter, spending time with friends and staff as they reflected on the memories they have made over the past five years at St Anne's. It was a joy to see everyone looking so confident, grown-up and ready for the exciting opportunities that lie ahead.

The Prom was a fitting celebration of a year group that has contributed so much to our school community. We are incredibly proud of all they have achieved during their time with us, both academically and personally, and it was wonderful to mark the end of their St Anne's journey in such a special way.

Thank you to the staff who organised the event, the families who supported the evening, and most importantly, our students, who made it such a fantastic occasion.

We wish the Class of 2026 every success and happiness for the future - and look forward to welcoming many of them back in September as members of our Sixth Form community.

🎵✨ Celebrating St Anne's Day through Music ✨🎵

On Thursday 9th July, our GCSE musicians, alongside students who have represented the school through concerts and worship, came together for a very special project: composing a brand-new Song for St Anne's.

The day marked both St Anne's Day in the Church calendar and 200 years of La Sainte Union, giving students the opportunity to celebrate our heritage, faith and community through music.

Students began by exploring examples of worship songs before drafting lyrics inspired by the values, vision and Catholic witness of St Anne's. They then worked collaboratively to compose the music, creating the melody, rhythm, chord sequence, verses, chorus and bridge. The accompaniment featured keyboard, drums, electric guitar and bass guitar.

At the end of the day, the group reunited to learn and perform the finished piece, recording the song together as a lasting celebration of this significant milestone.

A wonderful example of creativity, collaboration and faith in action. Well done to all involved!

Thank you for having us Columbans Britain, it has been a wonderful day for our Sixth Form students!

Today we welcomed Sixth Form students from schools across the Gaudete Trust to St. Columban's for a day inspired by Laudato Si'.

Students took part in a range of creative and practical activities, including pond dipping, nature sketching, biodiversity and COP workshops, Laudato Si' reflections and collages using plastic waste and natural materials. It was wonderful to see their enthusiasm for protecting creation and being advocates for a more sustainable future.

A big thank you to everyone who took part and helped make the day such a success. 🌍💚
