Itchen Sixth Form College is a vibrant and inclusive further education college located on the eastern side of Southampton, offering high quality A Level and Vocational courses to students of all abilities. Our students come from across Hampshire and are able to get to the college through our excellent contract bus service. We also have international students attending from countries all over the world. Our Adult Education department provides education and training opportunities for people of 19 years and over, enabling them to improve their employability, gain skills for work and progress to university. We also have additional services and facilities that can be accessed by the local community such as our sports centre, the nursery, gym, drama studio and other facilities.

From watching Wicked to taking centre stage. 🎭

When Amelia first started at Itchen, she was shy and nervous, with little experience in dance and singing.

But she knew she loved musical theatre.

After seeing Wicked in 2024, she told her mum:

“I need to be on that stage one day.”

At Itchen, Amelia had the opportunity to explore that passion, build her confidence and discover what she was capable of.

She went on to take leading roles including Roxie Hart in Chicago and Princess Anna in Frozen, achieving a Distinction in Dance & Musical Theatre.

Now, Amelia is looking ahead to drama school in London and continuing her journey towards a career in musical theatre.

Her ultimate dream? Playing Glinda in Wicked.

Her advice to Year 11 students is simple:

“Give everything a go even if you’re scared.”

You don't need to have your whole future figured out yet. Explore what interests you, take opportunities and see where they could lead.

Meet Harry 👋

Harry is celebrating an outstanding D*D*D* in his Level 3 UPS qualification! 🎉

When Harry started at Itchen, he was still unsure about exactly what he wanted to do in the future. But during his time here, he made the most of the opportunities around him - from experiences on trips to the support of his teachers - while taking the time to work out what comes next.

For Harry, finding your future isn’t necessarily about having all the answers from day one. It’s about trying new things, taking opportunities and discovering where they might lead.

His advice to Year 11 students?

“Take every opportunity.”

With D*D*D* behind him, Harry is leaving Itchen with new experiences, new possibilities and the freedom to find his future. 💙

Meet Mia 👋

Mia is celebrating a Distinction in Performing Arts after a year of developing her passion for performance through college productions, rehearsals and LAMDA.

During her time at Itchen, Mia has grown in confidence and developed her skills across a range of performing opportunities, making the most of everything the course had to offer.

Her achievement is a reflection of the commitment she has put into her studies and her passion for performing.

Now, she’s ready to take everything she has learned at Itchen into her next chapter. 🎭

Meet Laurence 👋

When Laurence started at Itchen, he didn’t know what he wanted to do in the future. Two years later, he’s leaving with a Distinction in Applied Science, alongside B's in Art Graphics and Art Photography - and, most importantly, a clear direction for what comes next.

During his time at Itchen, Laurence says he’s most proud of how much he has grown as a person and changed, with the constant support and encouragement from his teachers helping him along the way.

Now, he’s heading to Bournemouth University to study Product Design - turning a direction he discovered during his time at Itchen into the next chapter of his journey. 🎓

His advice to anyone who isn’t sure what their future looks like yet?

“Be optimistic.”

From arriving at Itchen without knowing what he wanted to do, to achieving a Distinction, B, B and securing his place at university - what a journey. 👏

Meet Sammar 👋

Sammar is celebrating an amazing set of results, achieving an A* in Biology and A's in Chemistry and Maths after two years at Itchen.

His success reflects the hard work he has put into his studies, but Sammar is also proud of making the most of everything college had to offer, getting involved in as many extracurricular activities as possible.

He says the passion his teachers have for their subjects helped him along the way, and he’s now looking forward to taking his next step and heading to university. 🎓

His advice to any Year 11 student who isn’t sure about their future?

“Learn as much as you can about all your possible options.”

And his approach to achieving those goals is simple:

“Put the work in and the results will follow.”

From throwing himself into opportunities at Itchen to achieving A*, A, A and preparing for university - what an achievement. 👏

Meet Fathia 👋

When Fathia started at Itchen, she thought university would be her next step.

But over the course of her time at college, her plans changed - and she realised that moving into employment was the right direction for her.

Today, she’s celebrating an outstanding D*D*D in her Level 3 Extended Diploma in Business. 🎉👏

Fathia says she’s most proud of the friends and memories she made during her time at Itchen, and credits her tutor, subject teachers and friends for helping her along the way.

Her advice to anyone who may be worried about changing their plans or not knowing exactly what comes next?

“As long as it isn’t the end, you aren’t a failure yet.”

Fathia’s journey is a great example of why your future doesn’t have to follow the plan you had when you first started. Changing direction isn't giving up - it's finding the path that's right for you.

Meet Emmanuel 👋

When Emmanuel started at Itchen, he knew he wanted to go to university — but he wasn’t yet sure which course was right for him.

After studying Health & Social Care, IT & Computing and Applied Science, he has now found his direction and is heading to the University of Wi******er to study Adult Nursing. 🎓

Emmanuel is celebrating a Distinction and Merit, with another result still to come — a fantastic achievement after all the dedication he put into his studies.

Reflecting on his time at Itchen, Emmanuel says he is most proud of the hard work he put in and seeing the results of that commitment. He also credits all of his teachers for helping him reach this point.

And his advice for anyone who is still unsure about their future?

“You don’t have to figure it out all at once.”

It’s a brilliant reminder that you don’t need to have everything mapped out from day one. Sometimes, the right path reveals itself as you go.

Meet Daniel 👋

Daniel always knew he wanted to study Computer Science – and now, after two years at Itchen, he’s heading to the University of St Andrews to do exactly that. 🎓

Daniel has achieved some fantastic results, including an A in Computer Science and an A in Maths, alongside a C in Physics and Further Maths – giving him an amazing platform for his next chapter. 👏

He’s also proud of achieving Bronze in the second round of the UK Maths Challenge, and says the friends he made at Itchen helped encourage him along the way. 💙

His advice to anyone who isn’t quite sure what their future looks like yet?

“Remember that nothing’s set in stone and so don’t worry about getting it wrong.”

From always knowing he wanted to study Computer Science to securing his place at St Andrews, Daniel has worked hard and achieved something really special.
