Collective nouns: a collective noun is a word we use to describe a group of something that are the same.
Today, I discovered a new collective noun:
A loveliness of ladybirds!
This is now being added to my favourites:
A prickle of porcupines
A flamboyance of flamingos
A fluffle of rabbits

I’m sure you are all aware of the latest phenomenon sweeping the country… Wicked, the movie. And whilst it is indeed a phenomenon, the film is based on the STAGE SHOW and not solely the book. The book has been rebranded to have the movie shot as its front cover. The book Wicked (and it’s following 3 books), is indeed the story of Elphaba and Glinda, but the book contains some very strong ADULT themes that you absolutely would not want anyone at least under the age of 16 reading. Please be aware of this before gifting to anyone this Christmas! I’d thoroughly recommend going to see the stage show as it is truly magical… I’m off to see it for the 9th time over Christmas. I never tire of it!

A great little resource made for a Year 4 student who has some difficulties in retaining the correct spellings of words. Can learn weekly spelling by rote but will struggle to recall independently. To be a Y6 expected writer, you need to have the tools to help you get spelling right and, as long as the child independently chooses to use something like this, there is no reason why a child who struggles with spelling should not reach EXP by the time thry leave primary education. Self-help strategies like this need to be embedded way before Y6 to make this effective. Other students in Years 5 and 6 will also be receiving them ready to help them in school! Do your children struggle knowing what feet to put their shoes on? A very common thing, certainly for children in tje early years. The problem is you want them to be independent…
A simple but effective way to help with this is to cut a sticker in half and put in each shoe, so when the shoes are in the correct order, the sticker is complete and both on the inside right side of each shoe . If they aren’t in the correct place, the stickers will be on the outside left side of each shoe!
Problem solved!
