Little Owls Woodland Preschool Through their play they are learning about the world as well as covering the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage.

Little Owls Woodland Pre-School is for 2yr9m-5 year olds and is based within a native Bristish woodland and follows the Forest School approach in all our learning, exploration and discovery. This is a wonderful opportunity for 3 and 4 year olds to run around the woodland cooking over fires, using tools, building dens, playing in mud, dyeing fabric with berries, learning about the trees, the animals and themselves.

We had the pleasure of helping celebrate a 6th Birthday today, 🥳 🎉
Using the tools, to make thier initials or some lovely patterns with the hammer, nails and loom bands. Bug hunting, 🐛 free play, hot dogs cooked on the campfire, finishing with toasted marshmallows 😋

🌟 The Nest is a gentle woodland playgroup based at Little Owls Preschool in Itchen Valley Country Park for babies 0-2 (until confidently walking).
Some exciting activities to look forward too this half term - ‘enchanted woodland’ , ‘berries and brambles’ and ‘pumpkin patch’ lots of lovely autumn crafts including tie dye and hand print crafts xx

What to expect?

The Nest is an outdoor playgroup with babies able to explore and discover at their own pace. Activities on offer over the term will include: toys, tuff trays, messy play, treasure baskets, musical instruments, sensory play, books, bubbles and crafts, all set out in our beautiful woodland. The sessions will be free play, then ending with a snack and some songs for those that want to join in.

Forest school is all about child led exploration, building confidence, encouraging curiosity and building nature connections. Being outdoors has so many benefits, and not just for the little ones! The Nest is a welcoming space for parents/carers to relax, recharge and meet others. Refreshments such as tea, coffee and cake will be provided

Our first rainy day at Little Owls in what feels like forever!
The Little owls fully embraced it, mud cakes, water play, climbing, lots of fun with the trucks and diggers, transporting the mud around, oh and we can't forget the favourite of jumping in muddy puddles!

We've had a lovely first day back in the woods today, its been lovely to see our Little Owls back enjoying the wood and a big welcome to our new Little Owls who our joining us over the coming couple of weeks.

We've been making new friends, making potions and cakes in the mud kitchen, bug hunting, 🐛, the hammock was popular today, cars, trains, what a busy first day!

🌟 We currently only have 2 spaces left for under 18m

Plus all of our usual favourites including the mud kitchen, hammock, climbing, digging, drinks and a snack for the grown ups.

🌟 Booking is open for The Nest and Twiglets Fridays sessions starting back in Sept!

There will be a designated area for The Nest babies (18m & under), crafts and keepsake activities suitable for all, and our usual Twiglet activities which older babies can access if they would like to.

We offer Forest School birthdays parties for children aged 3-11 based at our forest school site in Itchen Valley Country Park, led by our qualified forest school leaders.
We offer parties during the weekends all year round and evening by arrangement.
Tool work, campfire 🔥, make and take activites, woodland fun plus more.

What a fun but sad end of term this week. We've said our farewells to all our Little Owls flying the nest of to big school. 🦉
You have all been amazing and a pleasure to have in the wood. We hope you all have a amazing time at big school.
❤️ We also said a sad farewell to our lovely Nat Nightingale who is off on her next big adventure too.
You will be missed by us all. ❤️
