We’ve held 🎶 singing workshops and concerts in partnership with the National Opera Cenedlaethol Cymru and the University of Southampton (Music at Southampton).

By sharing songs and music from their countries and cultures 🌍🎵, the group has found joy, friendship, and a real sense of connection.

"During the COVID lockdown, I joined an online singing group run by CLEAR and the Welsh National Opera. Singing helped me find my voice again, both in language and confidence." 💬✨

Last week, our advice team received a lovely message from a client, some of which is featured in this post. 💕
The full message: "I truly believe that this was possible because of the time, effort and support you gave me. You took the time to help me, guided me through the process and put so much effort into supporting me. I am extremely grateful for everything you have done for me.
Your kindness and support have meant so much to me, especially during a difficult time. You have supported someone in need and made a real difference in my life.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart. May God always bless you, keep you happy and give you lots of success and happiness in your life. I hope you continue to grow and achieve wonderful things, just as you have helped and supported people like me."
Messages like this are the reason we continue to do what we do. At CLEAR, we are dedicated to helping people access the support, advice and education they need. It is always rewarding to hear about the difference that support has made.

At CLEAR, volunteers take on key roles as teachers, learning support assistants, advisors, and administrators. Our volunteers make a huge contribution to our work every day. Plus, it’s fun!😄
As a volunteer, you’ll receive induction training, regular updates, check-ins with your team manager, and recognition for your contributions. You must be aged 18 or over to volunteer with us. Some roles may require a basic DBS check.

In July, we submitted our first report to the Southampton Early Advice Service (SEAS). Some highlights were:
- In just three months we have supported 406 people across Southampton.
- 64% needed help with immigration matters, and many returned for ongoing support.
- 87% found us through self-referral or recommendations, showing the strength in our community.

Today, we said farewell to three valued members of our team at CLEAR.

🎉 Pete, our wonderful Project Manager, has retired after five years of leading our team.

🤝 Our two Homes for Ukraine team members, Alla and Denys, will be transferring to Advice Southampton.

💙 We’re very sad to say goodbye to Pete, Alla and Denys, but incredibly grateful for the skills, compassion and commitment they have brought to our work and the people we support.

🙏 Thank you all for everything you’ve contributed. We wish you every success and happiness in this next chapter.

After four years of supporting people arriving in Southampton through the Homes for Ukraine scheme, an important chapter is coming to an end for CLEAR.

Since 2022, we've worked alongside Southampton City Council and in partnership with Citizens Advice Southampton to help hundreds of Ukrainians settle into their new lives. Together, we've offered practical support, guidance, and a welcoming community.

From 1 September, the Homes for Ukraine contract will transfer to Citizens Advice Southampton.

While we're sad to see this chapter close, we're incredibly proud of everything we've achieved together and grateful to everyone who has made it possible, including our colleagues, funders, partners, hosts, and the Ukrainian community itself.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey. 💙💛
