Introducing one of our two Summer Schools for 2024:

Hockerill College
Located in beautiful grounds on the edge of Bishop’s Stortford, a historic market town, Hockerill Anglo-European College is in close proximity to London – 45 minutes by train to Liverpool Street Station. It is conveniently located 15 minutes from Stansted Airport, 1 hour 10 minutes from Heathrow Airport and 1 hour 20 minutes from Gatwick Airport. The school has excellent facilities, and the accommodation is warm and welcoming.

Highlights
- Transfers to/from any London Airport included in price
- 3 Full Day Excursions and 2 Half-Day Afternoons and evenings in London, plus one afternoon in Bishop’s Stortford, in a two-week programme

Summers Abroad is looking to recruit a professional, dedicated, and friendly EFL team for our summer school for European teenagers to be held at Hockerill College Bishop’s Stortford from 8 July to 5 August 2024 and Nottingham University from 1 July to 29 July 2024.

YOU MUST:
- be a native English speaker or have a near native level of English
- have either a CELTA, Trinity TESOL and / or QTS in English or a Modern Foreign Language.
(Other TEFL qualifications may be accepted if they have been validated by an external body and include a minimum of 6 hours observed practice.)
- have the right to work in the UK.

The Language Course

Experience a professional, dynamic approach to teaching English with qualified and competent staff.
On arrival, students are given a 3 - part test which includes a multiple-choice test, an open written assignment, and an individual interview before being assigned to one of the group levels ranging from Elementary to Advanced.
The course book is Gateway, specifically designed for teenagers. The maximum number of students in a class is 15.
There are 15 hours of tuition each week (2 x 1.5 - hour lessons daily with 2 teachers sharing a class).
Certificates of attendance and detailed progress reports, together with prizes to students who have made most progress, are awarded at the end of the course.
A selection of graded readers is made available to students to encourage vocabulary development.

The Location and Accommodation.

York, a city of historical wealth founded by the Romans, was once the capital of a Viking territory, and today the medieval city remains beautifully preserved. There is so much to discover in York, and it remains a must-visit for locals and tourists alike. Surrounded by
beautiful countryside the city, and the nearby Queen Ethelburga’s College, provide an excellent centre to explore the north of England.
Queen Ethelburga’s College is one of the finest and best known private boarding schools in the UK, furnished and equipped to a very high standard. The school has a variety of recreational facilities, including a superb new indoor games centre containing iPads, Xboxes, PlayStations, over 3000 computer games and DVDs. The campus covers over 100 acres and includes a walled ‘secret’ garden and excellent sports facilities.

SUMMER 2023 PROGRAMME – QUEEN ETHELBURGA’S COLLEGE YORK
Age group: 11-17 years old
Dates: 3 - 31 July 2023

Excursions include:
Manchester (including Tour of Manchester United or Manchester City Football Stadium)
Beamish Open Air Museum and Durham
Harrogate (a Victorian Spa town)
York (including walking the walls & York Minster )

In the three-week programme students will have an additional full day excursion to Liverpool, and a half day excursion to Scarborough.
