The University of Southampton Spaceflight Society (SUSF) is a group of students with a shared passion for space science and engineering.

Since our first high altitude balloon launch in 2012 - originally as part of the Physics Outreach group - SUSF has been dedicated to making space more accessible to everyone. In the years following, Spaceflight Society has continued to expand, adding rockets, satellites and rovers to our repertoire of projects. One of the University of Southampton’s longest running and most successful engineering

We're delighted to announce that our team claimed the “Best Mission Design & Presentation” and “Overall Winner” awards at today’s UKSEDS Olympus Rover Trials! 🥳

Congratulations to all the other prize winners and teams who made it to the finals this year! Massive thanks too to the volunteers at UK Students for the Exploration and Development of Space for running the event, as well as all the sponsors of the competition and our society.

We can’t wait to compete again next year!

Please see the message below from KISPE Space, regarding their Designathon competition:

"KISPE Space, as part of the Open Source Satellite Programme, are running a designathon, seeking novel and innovative ways for the development of spacecraft structures. Every satellite needs a good structure – something that houses all of the bits and pieces that make it work and the Open Source Satellite is no exception!

We are after some out of the box thinking to see if we can find something that hasn’t been done before and helps us with our aim to make space more accessible.

We would love anyone who is interested to join us and submit their ideas. You don’t need any prior space domain experience or to be a structural design engineer. We have all of the information on what needs to fit within the structure and are looking for drawings, CAD concepts, etc. to be submitted ahead of our showcase session at the end of September 2021. So if you are an individual, group or perhaps interested in acting as a judge, please get in touch!

Check out the link for more information: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JWuL3-0YHME

And sign up via our website: https://opensourcesatellite.org/register/

Any questions, please drop the team a message at: [email protected]

We can’t wait to hear from you!"
