Dr Emma Cowley working yesterday with the brilliant to produce an anti-racism sim fixed resource for practice placement learning.
Members of the podiatry team (Dr Emma Cowley and Keith McCormick) are focused on this important area of education in healthcare, publishing the results of an innovative simulation and online practice preparation programme with teams from the Universities of Sydney and Southampton in 2023.

Emma joined simtech, nursing and AHP colleagues at the conference last week where Health Sciences Sim Lead Dr Debbie Thackray presented the findings to a multi-disciplinary medical and healthcare delegate assembly focused on patient safety.
This exciting area of educational development, underpinned by expert and highly experienced simtech staff and a deep understanding of the underpinning theory of sim is just another reason to study and qualify in Allied Health at the University of Southampton.

Our students were AMAZING today! Arriving early this morning in London ready to work as volunteers in the medical tents with the wonderful crew they were joined by qualified staff to supervise them applying their skills and knowledge treating injured runners.
Alicia Browne, Arwen Gomez-Brown, Chantelle Bryant, Charlotte Biggerstaff, Genevieve Wong, Louisa Goodchild, Raine Graham, Susane Nghotchouang, and Wan Imanina Suhaimi (and Sophie Bennett who worked so hard to bring it together but wasnβt well today - get well soon Sophie!) you all did us proud. π
Thanks to Solent NHS Trust podiatrist Chris Delpierre for supporting Dr Emma Cowley with supervision and to the fantastic St Johnβs Ambulance team for their encouragement and welcome.
And to every runner who made it their goal to run the 26.2 miles we applaud you all π π

Not many people have studied the human foot as much as the academic podiatry team have!

Here in a world first, Dr Emma Cowley has now taken the incredible story of the human foot to the TED platform to showcase this misunderstood part of the human anatomy.

You may think theyβre βickβ now but once you watch her talk, we think youβll agree feet are actually pretty βEPickβ [pun intended!]
