What a brilliant first full week back at Foundry Lane! ๐ŸŒŸ

There has been so much lovely learning happening across the school. Year R have been busy settling into their new routines, exploring their learning environments and getting to know one another. Year 1 have been strengthening their hands ready for writing, while Year 2 have worked really hard on their Kinetic Letters handwriting and capital letters.

Year 3 have started an exciting PE unit inspired by The Greatest Showman, Year 4 have been investigating which types of food packaging keep food freshest in DT, Year 5 have been talking about their reading preferences and preparing for Destination Reader, and Year 6 have begun their stomp dance unit, exploring different ways of moving their bodies to make sound. ๐Ÿ‘

A huge thank you to all of our families for your patience, support and understanding during the power outage this week. We really appreciated everyone working with us while we managed an unexpected situation. โค๏ธ

Finally, please check your emails for the final vote for our new school house names! ๐Ÿ  We are really excited to see which names our school community chooses.

Have a lovely weekend, everyone! ๐Ÿ˜Š

What a lovely day welcoming our new Year R children to Foundry Lane! ๐Ÿ’™

They enjoyed circle time, explored their new indoor and outdoor spaces and had a tour around the school.

We were so proud to see them already beginning to follow our Golden Rules by being safe, being respectful and being their best. ๐ŸŒŸ

And a big well done to all the mums and dads too, who did brilliantly holding back those proud tears at the gate! ๐Ÿฅน

A fantastic first day for everyone. Well done, Year R! ๐Ÿ‘

๐ŸŒŸ Our Year 6 children are all settled down for the night in their tents at Foxlease! โ›บโœจ

This residential is an important part of their Civic Award โ€“ our own Junior Duke of Edinburgh-style programme ๐Ÿฅ‡, giving children the opportunity to develop resilience, independence, teamwork and confidence through new experiences.

Itโ€™s all part of our enrichment strategy, ensuring every child has the opportunity to Be Safe, Be Respectful and Be Their Best as they grow, challenge themselves and create memories that will last a lifetime. ๐Ÿ’™

๐Ÿš‚โš™๏ธ What an exciting STEM day for our children! ๐Ÿ’ก๐Ÿ‘ท

We were delighted to welcome David Hill from the University of Portsmouth, who worked with our children as they became engineers for the day! ๐Ÿ› ๏ธ Using circuits and coding, they are designing, building, testing, evaluating and improving their own Smart Level-Crossing Safety Systems. ๐Ÿ’ป๐Ÿ”Œ๐Ÿšฆ

We also welcomed Ben Aptor, who spoke to the children about railway safety in Southampton ๐Ÿš‰, helping them understand how to stay safe around railways while making meaningful real-world connections to their learning. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿง

A fantastic day of teamwork, problem-solving and inspiring future engineers! ๐ŸŒŸ
