🚺For our mums, grandmothers, daughters - this is important.

September is Gynaecological Cancer Awareness Month. Swipe to learn the key symptoms of the five gynaecological cancers, so you know what to look out for.

You know your body better than anyone. Knowing what’s normal for you can help you spot when something changes.

Having any of these symptoms does not definitely mean you have cancer, but it’s important to get checked by a GP.

If your symptoms are caused by cancer, finding it early may mean it’s easier to treat.

Ahead of the first day back on Thursday, a reminder to all parents, grandparents and carers about online safety.

We all love a first-day-back photograph. New uniform, new shoes, a new year group and a moment worth celebrating. But before you post it online, look carefully at what else the photograph tells people.

The example below shows just how much information can accidentally be shared in a single image: a street name, house number, vehicle registration, school, child’s name, year group and age. Put together, those details can reveal far more about a child and their family than you intended.

Organised crime and exploitation are very real issues, including here in Southampton. Information shared publicly online can be copied, saved and used by people you never intended to see it.

Before posting those lovely first-day photographs:

🚨 Check the background for street signs, house numbers and landmarks
🚨 Avoid showing vehicle registration plates
🚨 Keep school names, logos and badges out of view where possible
🚨 Think carefully before sharing your child’s full name, age or year group
🚨 Check who can actually see your posts and review your privacy settings
🚨 Remember that information from several innocent posts can be pieced together

Celebrate the moment. Take the photograph. Keep the memory. Just think before you share it.

Once something is online, you cannot control where it goes next.

A couple of weeks ago, our School Voices research team had the exciting opportunity to visit the University of Southampton as part of their research project. πŸŽ“βœ¨

The children confidently showcased their research to PGCE students, sharing their ideas and demonstrating the fantastic work they have been undertaking. They also enjoyed a tour of the university campus, giving them a glimpse into higher education and inspiring them to think about their own futures.

We are incredibly proud of how brilliantly they represented Mason Moor. Opportunities like these help our children see that with curiosity, determination and hard work, the future is full of possibilities. 🌟

Pathways have continued to enjoy the great outdoors following their fantastic visit to the New Forest Wildlife Park last week. 🌿🌞

This week, the children have taken part in a range of team-building activities and outdoor learning experiences, developing their communication, resilience and problem-solving skills while having lots of fun together.

It has been wonderful to see everyone working as a team, encouraging one another and making the most of learning beyond the classroom.

What an action-packed week Year 2 have had! 🌍🎨✨

In Science, the children have been learning all about how day and night happen. They created their own constellations and used torches to explore how the Moon moves around the Earth.

In History and Art, the children worked brilliantly together to recreate sections of the Bayeux Tapestry, using their observational drawing skills to capture the details of this famous historical artefact.

To top it all off, Year 2 enjoyed a fantastic trip to Southampton Art Gallery, where they worked alongside professional artists and learnt new printing techniques. It has been a week full of creativity, curiosity and fantastic learning!

Year 6 had an unforgettable day at Paultons Park this week! 🎒🌟

As they near the end of their primary school journey, it was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate everything they have achieved together. The children had an amazing time enjoying the rides, making memories with their friends and sharing plenty of laughter throughout the day.

We are so proud of everything Year 6 have accomplished during their time at Mason Moor. With just one week to go, we look forward to celebrating their final moments together before they begin their exciting next chapter.
