If ECGs are part of your work in acute or emergency care,
EPEC is designed to help you move beyond isolated pattern recognition and use a structured clinical approach.

The Live Virtual course is relevant to Emergency Medicine clinicians and trainees, acute-care doctors, critical-care clinicians, ACPs, junior doctors and senior paramedics who encounter ECGs in time-sensitive practice.

The next live session is 21 September 2026.
Join Dr Hesham Ibrahim for real-time teaching and case-based clinical discussion.

Think Before You Treat!

Broad Complex Tachycardia - A Different Look!

🎥 Now available on demand!

What do you do when a patient presents with a dangerous broad-complex tachycardia?

Recognise it.
Understand it.
Then treat it.

But under pressure, ECGs can mislead us, especially when we fall into familiar patterns or make rapid assumptions.

And in emergency medicine, a wrong interpretation can have serious consequences for the patient.

In this SWESEM Learning Webinar Masterclass, we take a different look at broad-complex tachycardia, focusing on potentially lethal ECG interpretation and management mistakes.

Using real cases, ECG challenges and practical bedside reasoning, we explore:

🔹 How to approach broad-complex tachycardia
🔹 ECG clues you shouldn't miss
🔹 Stable vs unstable management
🔹 Dangerous interpretation and treatment pitfalls
🔹 How to think before you treat

Learn ECG interpretation in context with Dr Hesham Ibrahim.

On 21 September 2026, EPEC Live Virtual returns for Session 3 of four live rounds this year.
The course is built around real emergency cases and the EPEC Storytelling Approach, helping clinicians connect the ECG finding to the patient, the diagnostic concern and the next
clinical decision.

Join live, ask questions in real time and work through the reasoning behind challenging ECGs.

The Sunday Quote

“Sooner or later, you will be caught being yourself, so you might as well be yourself.”

Authenticity is easier to sustain than constantly trying to become what others expect you to be.

21 September is Session 3 of 4.
15 December is the fourth and final live round of the year.

Both are full-day, interactive learning experiences led by Dr Hesham Ibrahim and built around real emergency ECG cases, structured interpretation and the clinical decisions that follow.

Countdown to EPEC: another ECG case to sharpen your thinking

Before our next EPEC Live Virtual Course on 21 September, here’s another case worth revisiting.

VT… or movement artefact?

A bizarre-looking ECG can make even an experienced clinician pause.

In this case, some leads appeared to show polymorphic VT, while another lead showed a normal rhythm.

So which one should you believe?

The clue is surprisingly simple:
Horizontal = You are moving with time.
Vertical = Time Stops!

This is a small ECG principle that can make a big difference when an ECG looks frightening.

In the full case, we explore how movement artefact from shivering mimicked a dangerous arrhythmia, and the simple clues that exposed it.

Find the link to the full article below.

And this is exactly the type of thinking we practise in EPEC.

Not just:
“What does this ECG show?”

But:
“Does this ECG actually make sense?”
“What else could explain it?”
“What does this mean for my patient?”

The countdown to 21 September is on.

One EPEC. Three distinct ways to learn.

Face-to-Face brings clinicians and the educator together for close discussion around real emergency cases.

Live Virtual delivers real-time teaching and interaction wherever you are.

Recorded offers structured, self-paced learning for clinicians who need greater schedule flexibility.

Each format provides a different learning experience.

Inside ULS Wi******er: hands-on learning, real discussion, and shared clinical thinking.

Clinicians worked through practical scenarios and complex
resuscitation decisions in an active face-to-face environment.
The emphasis was on participation, teamwork and the judgement required when real cases move beyond a simple algorithm.

The next ULS course takes place in Leeds, UK, on 14 November 2026.

Help us build our next ECG Course!

We’re excited to announce that we’re building our next course, which will be the Paediatric Emergency ECG Course (PEEC), and this time, we want you to be part of the team.

We don’t want to simply create another ECG course and tell you what you need to learn.

We want to build it with you.

So, before we finalise PEEC, we want to hear from the clinicians it is being designed for:

🔹 What ECG topics would you like us to cover?
🔹 Would you prefer live teaching, recorded learning, or both?
🔹 What would make PEEC genuinely valuable to you?
🔹 What would you consider fair pricing?
🔹 What could make the learning experience even better?

Your ideas. Your voice. Your PEEC.

Your answers will directly influence the content, format and learning experience of the course.

And because you’re helping us build it, we want to give something back:

Complete the survey and receive an exclusive 30% discount towards the upcoming PEEC course.

👉 Take the survey here:

Complete the PEEC Survey - Get 30% Off

It takes just a few minutes.

But your few minutes could help shape a course that thousands of clinicians may eventually learn from.

Don’t just wait for the next PEEC.

Be part of building it.

Sometimes the best description of a course comes from the people who actually experienced it.

Adele Crowley described her EPEC experience as:

“Really intense but really informative day. Great pre and post package. Excellent teacher. Thank you.”

That is exactly what we aim for with the Emergency Physician’s ECG Course (EPEC), not simply another ECG course, but an intensive learning experience that combines high-quality teaching, practical cases, preparation before the course, and resources to support learning afterwards.

ECG interpretation is one of those skills where knowing the theory and being able to recognise the dangerous pattern when you're under pressure are two very different things.

Our next Live Virtual EPEC is coming up:

📅 21 September 2026
💻 Live online
🎓 CPD-accredited learning

If improving your ECG confidence is something you've been meaning to do, this might be a good opportunity to join us.

Thank you, Adele, for the kind words, and to everyone who has trusted us with their ECG learning.
