Hello there one and all - welcome to Southampton University’s ** brand new ** Clinical Medical Education Society (or CLIMES for short). As our name suggests, we are a society focused on medical education - both delivering it and developing our abilities to deliver it! Teaching remains an important part of medicine with many of us likely to incorporate teaching into our future careers.
Our aims for CLIMES are to provide small-group learning opportunities to a range of students specifically focussed on the practical side of medicine e.g. history taking, examination and clinical skills! We also aim to help to develop the confidence and abilities of individuals in delivering these regular near-peer teaching sessions.
Throughout the year we hope to be able to run sessions on:
Examination Skill Refreshers for Retuning Intercalaters
Clinical Skill Practice Sessions
History Taking Practice Sessions
Placement prep & recap for 3rd years (semester 1)
Data Interpretation & Prescribing
Clinical Decision Making
Our committee consists of:
Alex and Jo: Co-Presidents
Olly and Nadia: Teaching Leads
Heather: Social and Secretary
Faye: Treasurer
