Private Tuition
Professional private tutor, GCSE and iGCSE examiner, and home education coordinator with over a decade of experience.
I offer tuition services for GCSE, A level, 11/13+ entrance exams, and KS3. I’m available for lessons in-person (Hampshire) & online.
GCSE exams are only WEEKS away!
In the build-up to exams, I’ll be running FREE group English Literature and Language GCSE ‘Walk and Talk' mocks. These will be for AQA exams only.
What is a ‘walk and talk’ mock and why is it beneficial?
For a ‘walk and talk’ mock, I will go through an exam question/extract live on a ShareScreen and explain/guide through the annotation process and assessment objectives. I’ll explain why certain quotations are good for AO1 and why others are good for AO2. I’ll then go through appropriate context (AO3) links. We’ll then look at how to structure an answer and make wider links to the novel/play as a whole.
Schools often schedule ‘walk through/walk and talk’ mocks as they have huge benefits in exam preparation. Not only do they expose students to the format and demands of the exam, but they can experience the steps needed to prepare an answer. Examiner Reports always make the same comments after an exam series: students who spend time planning and annotating WILL ALWAYS score higher. A ‘walk and talk’ mock shows students the steps they need to take in order to write a successful response under exam conditions.
When are they:
- Saturday 4th May 10-10:30am: An Inspector Calls
- Saturday 4th May 6-6:30pm: Poetry Anthology – Power and Conflict
- Saturday 4th May 6:45-7:15pm: Unseen Poetry.
- Saturday 11th May 7-7:45pm: English Language Paper 1
- Saturday 25th May 7-7:45pm: English Language Paper 2
After the session:
After the session, if you choose, you can request a mock paper on the topic. These mocks have been created by me, so there is very little chance that your child has done them at school. The mock will be sent via email and your child can attempt the paper at home (ideally in timed conditions). I will then mark the paper and give specific feedback on points to improve, plus provide a score/level in the mark scheme. Currently, I work as an examiner for 3 major U.K exam boards and an international exam board, so I am very experienced with marking exam scripts.
This service (the tailored mock AND the marking/feedback) will cost only £12. It is entirely optional and not linked to the FREE walk and talk mocks. You are more than welcome to attend as many online sessions as you’d like without opting for the practice paper/feedback.
Who can attend?
Any student is more than welcome to attend these sessions. You don’t have to be taught by me, so if you have friends/family or know anyone or your child knows anyone who’ll benefit, please forward this email to them.
How can I attend?
Just send me an email/message on Facebook or reply to this email with the dates/topics you’d like to attend, and I’ll forward you the relevant links.
GCSE exams are only a MONTH away!
In the build-up to exams, I’ll be running FREE English Literature and Language GCSE ‘Walk and Talk' mocks. These will be for AQA exams only.
How do they work?
The session will be held online (Zoom), and it will last approximately 30 minutes. The student will need to sign into the meeting and keep their microphone on mute. If they have any questions, they can type into the chat, and I’ll address the question as-we-go or at the end.
