✨ Helping Children Decompress During Exam Season ✨
SATs, GCSE and A Level season is here, and emotions can run high — not just for children, but for parents too. 💛
This week, alongside revision and preparation, I’ll be focusing on helping my own SATs taker feel calm, confident, and supported.
Here’s what that we aim for it to look like in our house:
⭐ Pressure-free downtime after school
⭐ Plenty of snacks, water, and early nights
⭐ Short revision bursts instead of overwhelming sessions
⭐ Fresh air and movement to reset after school
⭐ Reassurance that effort matters more than perfection
⭐ Keeping routines calm and predictable
⭐ Reminding them that SATs do not define who they are
⭐️Planned treat at the end to look forward to when they get to the finish line no matter how they do.
Some of this will obviously go wrong as we are all human and when it does we need to not beat ourselves up. 🤷♀️
Children often carry stress in ways we don’t immediately notice — tummy aches, frustration, tears, tiredness, or loss of confidence. Sometimes the best support we can give is helping them feel safe, regulated, and believed in. 💛
As tutors and parents, it’s easy to focus only on results, but confident, emotionally supported children learn best.
To every family navigating SATs, GCSE and A Levels this week:
You’ve got this. One test will never measure the full brilliance of your child. ✨
Let me know in the comments if you have any other ideas. I’d gladly use them! 🙂
Some amazing advice from Little Alex Horne for all of those entering exam season this week.

Good luck to everyone starting exams this week 🍀✨
Remember: if you start to feel overwhelmed or panicked, pause for a moment and take a breath. You do not have to carry the weight of the whole future into one exam hall.
These exams only measure what you can do on one day, at one time, under one set of conditions. They do not measure how kind you are, how funny you are, how creative, resilient, thoughtful or wonderful you are as a person.
You are so much more than a grade.
Do your best, be proud of your effort, and look after yourselves this week 💛
Louise 🙂

Happy Monday!
Very hard not to feel motivated when your day starts with a walk like this 🐶☀️
What is motivating you today?
Proud moment 💫
H has found compound interest really challenging for the past few years, and with GCSEs just around the corner, we revisited it together.
This time… something clicked ✨
Not only did she grasp it in the session, but she came back the following week saying she remembered the method, asked her teacher for extra questions—and got them right 🙌
That’s the win.
Hard work. Baby steps. Consistency.
She’s now confidently applying her knowledge and owning it 💪
This is exactly why we keep going.

✨ Top Tip ✨
One of my students shared how they organise their revision for exams in order to not feel overwhelmed and panic…
👉 “Planning ahead and thinking about what I am going to look at and when is really helpful. Making a simple timetable helps me to known where to begin.”
✨What an amazing piece of advice.✨
When children know what they’re going to focus on, and when, removes that overwhelming feeling of “I don’t know where to start.” Instead of everything feeling like too much, it becomes small, manageable steps.
A simple timetable:
✔️ Gives structure
✔️ Builds confidence
✔️ Helps them stay focused without panic
If your child is starting to feel overwhelmed with revision, try sitting down together and mapping out a simple plan for the week.
Sometimes, the best advice really does come from the children themselves 🤩
First day back done 😊
Honestly such a lovely one. The kids just got stuck in, had a go, and were really honest when they weren’t sure instead of guessing.
Lots of mistakes, lots of learning… exactly what we want 💛
Good start to the week!
