This week, some of our Year 9 Engineering students took part in a trip to Seaworks 2026, Europe’s largest marine industry event. Students explored the wide variety of roles within the marine sector, speaking with employers about the qualifications required and the salaries involved. There were also many practical exhibits to enjoy, including remote-controlled vehicles and VR headsets. Of course, there was plenty of merchandise to collect too! 🌊⚙️⛵

Employers commented on how confident and engaged our students were throughout the event. Well done to Year 9, Miss Hide, and Mr Byers, this was a fantastic careers opportunity linking learning in the classroom to employment routes.

Community News - Our local MP, Darren Paffey, is launching the Southampton Future Leaders Summer School Programme for students aged 15-17. Running from 27th-31st July, this free five-day programme will give young people an exciting introduction to the work of an MP.

The week will include Southampton-based workshops from Monday-Wednesday, a full-day trip to Parliament on Thursday 30th July, and a final project day where students will design their own youth-focused campaign. There are only 30 places available across Southampton schools, and applications close on Friday 26th June.

🌊⛵ What an amazing morning on the water! ⛵🌊

Today, a group of our students took to the River Itchen for an exciting sailing adventure at Southampton Watersports Activity Centre and what a fantastic experience it was! From setting sail to working together on the water, there were smiles, laughter, and plenty of new skills learned along the way.

At WSS, we’re passionate about providing opportunities like this to help our students grow in confidence, build resilience, and strengthen their teamwork skills. Days like today truly show how powerful learning beyond the classroom can be!
