🌟 A brilliant start to Year R! 🌟

We are so proud of how well our Year R children have started school! 💙

They have settled in brilliantly, shown lots of enthusiasm for learning and are already becoming more confident and independent in their new environment.

It has been wonderful to see happy faces coming through the doors, new friendships beginning to grow and children becoming increasingly confident to explore, play and try new things.

Starting school is such a big milestone and our Year R children have made a fantastic start to their journey at St Mary’s.

Well done, Year R! We are incredibly proud of you all! 🌟

🌟 A lovely first week in Preschool! 🌟

What a wonderful start our Preschool children have had! This week has been all about settling into Preschool, exploring our new environment, making new friends and learning to play and share together.

Our theme has been ‘All About Me’. The children have enjoyed using small mirrors to look carefully at their faces before using their mark-making skills to represent some of their own features. 👀✏️

We have also been talking about the things that make us unique, noticing our different hair, eyes and skin and learning that we are all special. 💙

To celebrate their first week in Preschool, the children created their own handprints to take home as a special keepsake. 🖐️

We are so proud of how well our children are beginning to settle and we are looking forward to lots more learning, playing and exploring together!

🌟 Our First Week in Rising 2s 🌟

What a lovely start to the new school year!

It has been wonderful getting to meet our new children and families during our home visits and beginning to get to know each child.

We have really enjoyed welcoming the children into Rising 2s, helping them to explore their new environment, meet the adults who will be caring for them and begin to feel happy and secure with us.

🌟 What a fantastic start to Year 1! 🌟

We’ve been busy getting to know our new classrooms, learning our routines and settling into life in Year 1!

Together, we created our class rules and thought about how we can make our classrooms happy, safe and respectful places to learn.

🔢 In Maths, we’ve been exploring number sense and developing our understanding of numbers and the different ways they can be represented.

✏️ We’ve also been practising our long ladder letters, focusing on correct letter formation and developing good handwriting habits.

🌸 In Science, we’ve started learning about flowers, discovering the different parts of a flower and beginning to understand what each part does.

There has already been lots of learning, laughter and teamwork as we begin our Year 1 journey together. We’re really proud of how well the children have settled in and are looking forward to all the learning ahead!
