Celebrating National Recognition at The Hamble School ๐
We are incredibly proud to share some fantastic news with our community!
On National Thank a Teacher Day, The Hamble School received two prestigious recognitions as part of the Pearson National Teaching Awards:
Our Inclusion Department was recognised for Outstanding SEND and Inclusive Practice.
The Hamble School was Highly Commended for Secondary School of the Year in the "Making a Difference" category.
In addition, we are delighted to announce that we have been awarded the ARC Silver Pathway Award by Hampshire Virtual School, becoming the first secondary school in Hampshire to achieve this recognition. This award celebrates our commitment to attachment-aware, trauma-informed practice and our focus on ensuring every student feels safe, supported and able to thrive.
These achievements reflect the dedication of our staff, the resilience and success of our students, and the invaluable support of our families.
Together, we have built a school community where excellence, inclusion and wellbeing are at the heart of everything we do.
Thank you to everyone who contributes to making The Hamble School such a special place to learn.

Today marks the end of the GCSE examination period for our Year 11 students and the culmination of months of hard work, commitment and perseverance.
A huge congratulations to all of our Year 11 students. We are incredibly proud of the way you have approached your examinations and the resilience you have shown throughout. You have represented yourselves and our school brilliantly.
Thank you to our teaching staff for their encouragement, expertise and support throughout the examination period.
A special mention must go to Mrs Vincent, who has completed her first exam season as our incredible Exams Officer. Her organisation, dedication and calm approach have ensured that the examination period has run smoothly for hundreds of students.
Our wonderful team of invigilators have also played a vital role throughout the exam season. Their professionalism, patience and unwavering attention to detail have helped create a calm, supportive and fair environment for every student. From early starts to long exam days, they have ensured examinations ran smoothly and that students felt reassured throughout. We are incredibly grateful for their dedication and commitment.
Special recognition must also go to our Pastoral Team, Attendance Team, support staff and Mr Stone, who have gone above and beyond to ensure students were in the right place at the right time. Whether through phone calls, welfare checks, minibus pick-ups or countless acts of support behind the scenes, their commitment to our young people has been exceptional.
Today is a reminder of what can be achieved when a whole school community works together. Thank you to everyone who has played a part in supporting this fantastic year group.

As you will be aware, Hamble Parish Council โ working closely with Hamble Peninsular Residents Group, and on behalf of the community โ has challenged the appeal decision that granted planning permission for the quarry. On Tuesday 16 June, a High Court judge at the Royal Courts of Justice in London will consider our challenge โ and specifically whether the appeal was handled correctly and lawfully.
The judge is not deciding whether the quarry is a good or bad idea โ that argument has already been heard. This hearing is only about whether the right process was followed.

The legal process continues in a higher court. Nothing is settled yet.

The planning permission stands and the quarry can go ahead โ but not straight away.
Work cannot simply start. The permission comes with a long list of planning conditions covering traffic, noise, dust, air quality, lighting, wildlife, water run-off and more. Many of these must be agreed in detail with Hampshire County Council before anything happens on site, and others apply for the whole life of the quarry. Working through them is a substantial process in itself, and how they are monitored and enforced will matter enormously to the village.
Yes. The hearing is public and anyone is welcome to attend. A community presence will not decide the case, but it does show the judge the strength of local feeling.
A few practical points if you are thinking of going:
โข You will need to make your own way there โ there is no organised transport.
โข The Court will only confirm the hearing time on the afternoon of Monday 15 June, so keep an eye out for updates that evening.
โข Please let us know in advance if you plan to attend, as the Court may need rough numbers to allocate a suitable room. Email [email protected] or [email protected].
A decision may be given on the day, or shortly afterwards โ particularly if the hearing runs over. We will share it, and explain what it means for our community, as soon as we can.
Keep an eye on the Parish Council website, page and newsletter, and on the Hamble Peninsular Residents Group page for further updates.

Our Year 10 geographers recently visited Southampton to investigate whether the city fits Eganโs Wheel, exploring key aspects of sustainability including transport, housing, the economy, environmental quality, and community wellbeing.
Despite the wet weather, students worked hard to collect data, make observations, and evaluate how sustainable Southampton is as an urban area. The visit provided a valuable opportunity to apply classroom learning to a real-world setting and develop important fieldwork skills.
We have one final field trip still to come later in the week. Well done to all students for their enthusiasm, resilience, and excellent conduct throughout the day!
