Today our Toddler room had a special visit from Karina who supported the children with baking their own banana and oat muffins! This activity encouraged the children to use their fine motor skills when mixing together the ingredients and putting the cake mix into separate bowls. The children had open discussions about their cake baking experiences "I like bananas" and "mix mix". Thank you Karina for this amazing and yummy experience! 🎂

Woodberry Day Nursery, Peartree would like to thank you all for your generous donations for children in need 2025. The children have had an amazing time completing their '25' challenges and finishing the day with a teddy bear picnic!

- The caterpillar room shared 25 stories throughout the day and the explored different print, looking closely at animal and texture books.

-The butterfly room went on an animal hunt, trying to find 25 animals around the room using their checklists.

-Toddlers and Preschool did 25 laps from one end of the room to the other and danced to 25 songs!

Today Woodberry Day Nursery, Peartree have had a very exciting visit from the bus, inviting our local communities to the setting and providing the children with a joyful experience.

Undertwos: "a bus beep beep"
Toddlers: "I'm going on a ride" and "this is so much fun"
Preschool: " it's a big red bus, it's a double decker"

We have recently discovered that there has been a decrease in the usage of buses in post-pandemic years with only 2% of school children using a bus as transport for school in 2024. Therefore, we wanted to take this opportunity kindly and teach the children about the importance of a bus ride and how much you can learn using your senses on a bus. The children thoroughly enjoyed their visit today and we want to say a special thank you Southampton & District Transport Heritage Trust We hope you enjoy your pictures of the bus which our preschool children have drawn for you!

Congratulations to Karina, our chosen employee of the month this October! Karina not only provides the children with an amazing menu and delicious food cooked with love each day, but also goes the extra mile supporting all rooms and staff when needed. We thank Karina for always putting a smile on people's faces and spreading her positive energy throughout the setting. Well done Karina - very well deserved. 🌟

Here are a few photos from the children celebrating Diwali last week! From candle making to food tasting, the children explored the festival of light and colour! Activities supported children's curiosity and understanding of the world, using their senses to investigate sounds, sights and taste. We had an amazing week learning about this cultural celebration. Happy Diwali! 🕯

This week the Toddler room have been exploring textures, specific to autumn. There have been a variety of activities which have linked their exploration with sense of self and encouraging imagination. As part of their home learning the Toddler children have been exploring nature, taking walks and collecting their own natural resources which were later used to make autumn wreaths. Vocabulary such as "bumpy, spikey and smooth" were modelled as well as supporting hand-eye coordinator with glueing and sticking the items.

This week our Caterpillar room have been focusing on nursery rhymes in support of nursery rhyme week! The children have been exploring a variety of songs such as 'five little ducks' and 'incy wincy spider' as well as focusing on key vocabulary "shake", "duck", "bang", "quack". This activity supports the children in becoming confident communicators through a creative and very tuneful experience. Well done Caterpillars!
