I received my piano grade 2 performance result today, I was very happy to get a distinction (142 out of 150). I know many of my students have learnt piano and have achieved great results, Grade 2 is a piece of cake for these lovely children! Just this learning experience inspired me to share this thought.

Being an important aspect of the Chinese culture, the social or non-religious function of ancestor remembrance is to cultivate kinship values.

From the new year eve, people go to the temples to remember their ancestors and pray for good fortune for the coming year.

Day3 Sticky Rice Balls- yuán xiāo

Sticky Rice Balls is a chewy dumpling with a sweet, nutty, runny filling. People like to have it on the last day of the Chinese New Year celebration as a delectable dessert, which represents reunion of family.

This dessert is usually available all year long and can often be found at Chinese restaurants. It’s available at Chinese shops in the UK.😄

Day 4 Firecracker - biān pào🧨🧨

In traditional Chinese culture, firecrackers were originally used to scare away evil spirits. Nowadays, both fireworks and firecrackers are used to express happiness and invite good luck. People set them off at 12 o’clock on new year’s eve to celebrate new year’s coming.

Day 5 Put Chinese Calligraphy New Year Wishes 🆙 - tiē chūn lián

As we know Chinese calligraphy is the supreme visual art form in China, which is more valued than painting and sculpture, and ranked alongside poetry as a means of self-expression and cultivation. After deep cleaning the house, people would write Chinese calligraphy New year wishes on the red banners and put it on the doorways to create a festive atmosphere.

Only shopping for the new year is not enough, deeply cleaning is also important.Throughly cleaning the home before the Chinese New Year refers to getting rid of bad luck from the previous year, so that you can get ready to fill with the good luck and welcome a new start.
