A wonderful day celebrating our 50 years; Our owner Tash’s mum Caroline, founded the nursery in 1976 with a simple vision – to create a place where every child feels safe, valued, loved and inspired to learn. Fifty years on, that vision continues to guide everything we do.
We are the oldest nursery in Southampton and seeing generations of families return is a real privilege and reflects the trust that our community has placed in us over the years.
As a family-run nursery, relationships are at the heart of everything we do. We believe childhood should be filled with curiosity, adventure, kindness and meaningful friendships. We encourage children to explore, ask questions, develop confidence and independence, and spend time learning through play in the outdoors. Alongside this, we place a strong emphasis on children’s health and wellbeing, helping them to build happy, healthy habits that will stay with them for life. Receiving the Southampton Gold Healthy Years Award is a wonderful recognition of this commitment.
St James Nursery has always been about more than early education; it’s about creating a caring community where children feel they belong, families feel supported, and every child is celebrated as an individual. As we celebrate our 50th anniversary, we’re incredibly grateful to the dedicated staff, wonderful families and thousands of children who have been part of our story.
