Looking for summer 2024 plans? We have an exciting opportunity available for FAH and FELS students at Nanjing University in China. There are 2 fee-waived spaces available for the Water, Climate and Global Humanities Rhythms of Water Summer School.

The competition is open to all the exchange and study abroad students who have been studying at the University of Southampton in the academic year 2023/24.

All entries must be received by 9:00 GMT on Monday 18 December 2023.

Prizes:
1st place - £30 Amazon voucher
2nd place - £20 Amazon voucher
3rd place - £10 Amazon voucher

The winners will be chosen by an impartial panel of judges in the International Office.

The prizes will be sent to the winners by email.

The photo competition entry rules:
1. Maximum one photo entry. The photo should be about your period of studies at the University of Southampton and/or the city of Southampton (your favourite place, best experience, or anything related to your semester).
2. The entrant must appear in the photo.
3. A quote should be supplied with each entry describing your favourite aspect of living/studying in Southampton or summarizing your experience in Southampton (photo entries submitted without a quote will not be considered).
4. Please read the attached Terms and Conditions and confirm in the email you send us with your photo and your quote that you have read and accepted them.

International Summer School | University of Southampton Humanities Summer School

Southampton Undergraduates: funded 12-week research internship in Canada (Summer 2024)

Are you an excellent student interested in developing your research expertise with top professors in Canada? Mitacs's Globalink Research Internship, in partnership with Universities UK International (UUKi), gives undergraduates in their penultimate year an opportunity to complete a funded 12-week summer research internship in a variety of academic disciplines from science, engineering, and mathematics to the humanities and social sciences.
Successful applicants will complete an internship under the supervision of a professor at one of 70 participating Canadian universities.
Internships will take place for a 12 week period within May-October 2024.
Southampton students can apply for nomination via the Southampton Global Mobility team, using this application form: https://forms.office.com/e/Lt9MCXnLKr The application deadline is 11:59pm on Monday 31st July
Globalink interns receive:
• the opportunity to work on a research project at a Canadian university
• round-trip airfare to Canada (via reimbursement)
• airport transfer to accommodations in Canada
• stipend for housing, food, and incidentals
• health insurance
• stipend towards student enrolment fees up to a maximum of $300
• support from student mentors on campus in Canada
• registration for industry events, professional development courses, and social activities

Students must:
• be undergraduates enrolled full- time in an accredited university in the UK with a year remaining in their undergraduate degree or two years remaining in their integrated master degree when they return to the UK
• be at least 18 years of age
• have a minimum weighted average of 60%+ if they meet their university’s widening participation or equivalent criteria, or 65%+ if they do not meet their university’s widening participation criteria
• be able to spend 12 weeks in the period May – October 2024 at a host university in Canada on a research project related to their area of interest and expertise
Eligibility criteria:
• demonstrate oral and written fluency in English or French, depending on the primary language of the project
• apply to a minimum of three to seven pre-existing research projects designed by Canadian professors and ensure selections are from at least three different Canadian provinces
• be nominated by their home university to participate in the scheme
• meet any university specific eligibility criteria set out by your home university
