When you are learning to read and write independently, if you can't say it, you can't write it. This 'oral rehearsal' is an incredibly important part of the reading and writing journey.

The start of the new school year is an exciting time. For some children it can be an overwhelming time too, with lots of change. September is an important time for children to settle into their new learning environments and feel happy to continue their learning journeys.

At The Reading Doctors, one of our core beliefs is recognising the importance of a child’s view of themselves as a learner. We purposefully spend time building relationships, identifying strengths and challenges, recognising learning styles and celebrating individual successes.

Developing a child’s self-esteem, self-belief and their confidence to try new things; to apply learnt skills and ‘have a go’ means everything.

It is giving them the skills they need to read the next book or attempt the next challenge independently.
