Please be aware that standalone nursery settings are not currently covered by Benedict’s Law, so we do not have the additional school-specific requirements for staff training and spare adrenaline auto-injectors.

However, we all have an important role to play in keeping every child safe. We have to work together to reduce the risk of allergic reactions and ensure that children with allergies are protected.

Please remember that we are a NUT-FREE setting, and products containing nuts, including items such as hazelnut spread, should not be brought into our setting.

If your child has any allergies or dietary requirements, these must be clearly stated on your child’s registration form. This allows us to ensure that all relevant staff are informed, the appropriate documentation is completed, and the necessary procedures are followed in line with our policies and procedures.

Please also keep us updated if your child develops a new allergy or if there are any changes to their existing allergy or medical requirements.

Thank you for working with us and helping us to keep all of our children safe. ❤️

I have updated this poster as the July 2026 final DfE statutory guidance changed/clarified the position compared with some of the earlier information on which it was based.

The most significant issue is the section “Where Benedict’s Law formally applies.” Previously it stated that maintained schools include local-authority-maintained nursery schools fall directly within Benedict’s Law. That is incorrect under the final statutory guidance. The DfE expressly says the guidance applies to maintained schools “excluding local-authority-maintained nursery schools.”

The updated poster below is accurate as of today.

While many people enjoy warmer summer weather, hot weather can cause some people to become unwell through overheating (becoming uncomfortably hot), dehydration, heat exhaustion and heatstroke.

- keep out of the sun at the hottest time of the day, between 11am and 3pm
- if you are going to do a physical activity (for example exercise or walking the dog), plan to do these during times of the day when it is cooler such as the morning or evening
- keep your home cool by closing windows and curtains in rooms that face the sun
- if you do go outside, cover up with suitable clothing such as an appropriate hat and sunglasses, seek shade and apply sunscreen
- drink plenty of fluids and limit your alcohol intake
- check on family, friends and neighbours who may be at higher risk of becoming unwell, and if you are at higher risk, ask them to do the same for you
- know the symptoms of heat exhaustion and heatstroke and what to do if you or someone else has them

☀️Exteme weather closure☀️
We are doing our absolute best to stay open and keep your little humans safe. Tomorrow is going to be as hot as today and as nighttime temperatures are not cooling the buildings, I can see them being hard to cool, if you don't need childcare for work, please consider keeping your child at home. Closure may be at 1 or 3pm so please keep an eye on the watsapp group for updates☀️
Thank you for your ongoing support, stay safe and hydrated 🙏 ❤️
