Year 5 Science - Filtering

The children were filtering a soil and water mixture into clean water. The children had a choice of many materials to include in their filter. There were lots of great ideas and some thought of refiltering to make the water even more clear.

The Word, National Centre for the Written Word is South Tyneside’s new state-of-the-art cultural venue, situated in the heart of South Shields and is brimming with exciting new experiences, activities and facilities for people of all ages to enjoy.

Our Tiny Forest was planted in March 2024. It was a really muddy experience which we all got involved with.

Today Mark and the team visited. They talked and worked with all pupils from reception through to year 6.

They talked about and measured the trees that are growing. Over 600 trees were planted and now those that survived are growing nicely.

We will be able to enjoy it as a place to go and look for mini beasts and wildlife.

We now have the signage to explain what it is.

This week's and last week's Stars of the Week ⭐✨

Upon receiving full results of yesterdays cross country, there were some excellent team results that went unnoticed due to not knowing the full extent of all results .

The year 3 boys team came 2nd overall only 7 points behind the winners.

The year 5 boys team came 2nd overall only 3 points behind the winners.

The year 6 boys team came in outright 2nd place as there was a tie for 1st in that category.

Once again well done to all!!

Today children from all of key stage 2 were at Temple Park competing in the South Tyneside cross country event. All of the children involved gave their best efforts on a demanding course where they had hills, wind and even the odd rabbit hole to contend with. There were some great individual performances with children finishing in the top 10 of their categories.
A special well done to Isaac in year 3, finishing 3rd in the boys year 3 race and getting a place on the podium. Also a huge well done to C.J in year 5 who in the last 100m went from 4th place to 1st with an unbelievably strong finish to his race!!
