Harvest Collection

Dear parent/carer,

As in previous years, we will be collecting tine and packet goods as Harvest donations for the South Shields based charity Hospitality and Hope.

We welcome donations from Wednesday 7th October, with the final day for collection being Wednesday 21st October. Any donation you can make would be greatly appreciated to support those who are less fortunate than ourselves.

Safeguarding our Children

Dear parents/carers,

As a school ,we review our procedures and processes on a regular basis to ensure that we are effectively safeguarding our children.

Following a recent review we are making a number of minor changes to both how children enter and exit school. These changes will take effect from Monday 5th October. The changes will be as follows:

· School gates will now be closed at 9.10am at the beginning of the day. Anyone arriving after this time will have to enter school via the main entrance.
· School gates will now be closed at 3.45pm at the end of the school day. This is to ensure the safety of our school site, whilst after school clubs are taking place. Anyone collecting children from an after school club will need to use the main entrance to the school to collect their children.
· At the end of the school day, infant staff will continue to dismiss their children as normal. Junior staff will now bring their classes out onto the yard. Teachers will dismiss children who have permission to walk home first. They will then hand over the remaining children to the responsible person collecting them. If no one is there to collect them, the child will be brought back into school and parents/carers will be contacted. To help this process run smoothly, we ask that you ensure that you are on the yard prior to the end of the school day. Please note, children without permission to walk home, will no longer be allowed to leave the school site to meet parents in cars. This measure is to help safeguard your children.

In addition, we ask parents to stand well back from the class lines on a morning and afternoon so that staff can clearly see all children coming into and leaving school.

Please also remember that children can only be collected by someone 16 years or older. If this is not the usual person that collects your child, you must inform the school office prior to the end of the school day, or staff will not release your child.

Class 6 had a lovely time this morning over at nursery sharing some of our work with the children. Class 6 tried hard reading their setting descriptions with expression and emphasis to keep their audience interested. The nursery children showed great listening skills and enjoyed having the older children read to them 😀

Thank you to everyone who has supported our MacMillan coffee morning today. We raised an amazing £324.66!! Thank you for your support!

Tomorrow is our MacMillan Coffee Morning.

Parents and Carers can join us at 9am until 10:20am for coffee, tea and cakes where you can help us support this amazing charity.

Cakes will also be on sale for the children at break time and will be priced between 50p and £1.
