🍅Our tomato plants are growing! 🍅

A huge thank you to our lovely community for kindly donating tomato plants for us to grow on. The children have been taking such great care of them, making sure they get plenty of water and checking on them every day. We’ve now spotted our first little green tomatoes growing!

🔬 Science and sweets fun this week in Kingfishers Club! 🔬

First up, it was time for some teamwork and engineering challenges… the children worked in teams to build the tallest structures they could using just marshmallows and spaghetti. There were lots of creative ideas, problem-solving, teamwork (and a few wobbly towers!)

Then we explored density with a Skittles and water experiment watching the colours spread and discovering what happens when science meets sweets!

A fantastic session full of curiosity, creativity and lots of “wow” moments for the children.

What a fantastic week of Sport! 🏅

Pupils have enjoyed a brilliant range of sporting activities across this week, showing determination, resilience and, most importantly, outstanding teamwork.

It was wonderful to see our older pupils encouraging and supporting our younger children, cheering each other on and celebrating one another's successes. The true spirit of our school was on display, with every child giving their best and taking part with enthusiasm.

A huge congratulations to Slytherin House, who were crowned our overall Sports Day champions!

Phew – we made it! ☀️😅

After an incredibly hot week, we're so proud of how brilliantly our children have coped.

We would like to thank all of our families for their encouragement and kind comments, and for keeping us well-stocked with ice lollies and cool snacks!

We know that keeping school open has been important to our parents, and we're pleased we were able to do so safely.

Across the school we adapted the day to keep everyone as cool and comfortable as possible – alternative classrooms, plenty of water breaks, time in the shade, quieter activities, industrial-sized fans, and lots of smiles along the way!

Now it's time for everyone to enjoy a well-earned, hopefully cooler weekend.

Huge thanks to the award-winning Digitall Charity who offered free coding workshops to children across the school yesterday, in the cool of the sports hall. Children learned to code images and colours to give depth to their projects, learning to adapt their code within the challenges for new effects. Pete and Beth's enthusiasm was contagious, and we will look forward to welcoming them back for more in the future!

Science Week at South Moreton has been an exciting adventure for all our young scientists! Throughout the week, children took part in hands-on experiments, explored curious facts about the world around us, and discovered just how fascinating science can be.

On Wednesday, the whole school took part in a Medical Mavericks workshop, where they explored careers in medicine through using an ECG and performing keyhole surgery.

We can’t wait to see where our curiosity takes us next!
